I disagree entirely. This systemic American Legion problem is Age. The well-intended leadership is of WWII age, trying to suppress a 1930 baseball institution that is playing in the 21st century. They are overwelmed. IM, showcase, text, TBR, twit, CBC, usssa, travel, no chance they can stay ahead of all that stuff using old school. It’s not ethics, it is lack of understanding. They never worried about rules because there was no Information Highway. Now people they don’t even know are smoking down their necks, twisting words, and once you go down that slippery slope of favoritism, good luck keeping track of the lies. It’s deer in the headlights.

    Final Roster is in

I was just told my someone from American Legion Post 66 that their protest concerning a illegal player by a neighboring Post was UPHELD by Roy Waters and the NC American Legion Baseball.
Mr. Waters admitted that he had made a mistake in his first decision to allow the young man to play.
He would not change the out come of the game leaving the won/lost records the same.
The neighboring team has been instructed to remove this young man from their team and that he can no longer play this year. If he should play any and all games that he participates in will result in a forfeit for the opposing team.
This still does sound right regardless of who made the mistake the the records should be reversed.

They are NEVER going to learn!!!

First of all congratulation to Post 66 for seeing it thru and getting an organization that rarely admits they are wrong to do so.

Now down to business. So when MooresvilleSupporter said; “ the Team Manager called the state before he did this because he knew that most ignorant people would not understand the rule book. THEY REALLY MEANT THE STATE COMISSIONER! How long do you have to be around Legion Baseball to be able to skip right to the top to get permission to twist the rules? And how many times does the commissioner get to be wrong?
As stated by RESPECTTHEGAME the state rule cannot be "less" restrictive than national rules.

Please read rule Rule 5 C. Forfeitures.

As copied and pasted from American Legion Baseball 2011 Rule Book. http://www.legion.org/documents/baseball/baseball_rules.pdf.
    PROTESTS RULE 5
    A. Protest Procedures. All department baseball committees shall, in their rules, define procedures for filing protests. This rule will specify how protests are to be filed, time limits, fees, if any, and with whom protests are to be filed.
    B. Written Proof. All protests of player eligibility must be specific, with written proof. All protests shall be filed with the department in accordance with department baseball rules. All protests must indicate the specific rule that is alleged to have been violated.
    C. Forfeitures. If a player is ruled ineligible, he shall be disqualified immediately and all games in which the disqualified player participated shall be forfeited.
    D. Game Protest. Protests of Official Baseball Rules during actual game conditions must be filed with the chief umpire before the next legal pitch.
    E. Appeals to National Headquarters. All protests involving player eligibility and filed with the National Appeals Board must be sent via the department chairman. (See Rule 10)

WHAT HAPPENS IF THAT ONE GAME IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SO CALLED “TEAM B” QUALIFIING FOR POSITION #8 IN THE DIVISION STANDINGS ?
“TEAM B” MAKES IT TO THE PLAYOFFS BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE DID NOT FOLLOW THE RULES AND “TEAM X/#9 GOES HOME UNTIL NEXT YEAR

    Mr. guy in charge;
Thanks for stopping the playing of illegal players, that was important.
Unless the team manager that tried this is 14 years old you shouldn't have to cover his ass.
It was cheating, not a Boo-Boo. Ineligible players result in forfeit, not lollipops. This is going to effect the final standings.

Im so tired of hearing about letting the kids play. What about the kids that have played for Team B all year only to have new recruited kids come in and jump right into STARTING ROLES??? This isn't about the kids. What about the other kids that could have made one of the strongest teams Mooresville has ever had with one team!! Your taking away a very good chance at a State Championship! I will agree with the reason for the 40 years was because of Whitey but think about this one. Now they are trying to take down something that they supposedly created! Lets go tear down an empire because we didn't get OUR WAY!! Doesn't make a lot of sense. Its really sad that things have come to this. If this is all about the kids then ask them what they think? Anybody thought of that?? I guarantee they would rather be on a possible State Championship team than a regular high school team which is basically what Team B is making Legion baseball in Mooresville!

Have talked to most of the kids. They want to play. State championships are great, but bottom line is they just want to play.

if they just want to play then maybe they can stick to rec ball or travel(daddy) ball. This isn't a place for everybody to play! Its the best of the best in Iredell County. That's what everyone is forgetting! A few people get mad and feel they were done wrong. They may have been but that's life!! As adults we should know that by now. Whitey was in control for 40 years and no way he would have let another team form in Iredell county.

    And the Oscar goes to....

Imagine this....it's a Sunday night in early March. Many folks are tuned in to the annual bash in Hollywood to see who wins the Oscar for unbelievable performances from the past year. Tom Hanks walks to the podium and announces "Ladies and Gentlemen....the 2011 Oscar for BEST DRAMA goes to....Mooresville Legion Baseball !"

The crowd is shocked, but even more so when the principals from both organizations take the stage and begin to tussle over who was meant to receive the award. The State Commissioner is in the crowd so he can settle it for sure. When he arrives on stage he informs the audience that he left his rulebook in the booth at McDonalds in Valdese, but not to worry...he can make a ruling anyway. His ruling: both teams can have the Oscar as long as Oscar was on their final roster by the deadline and Tom Hanks can't play for either team because he didn't get a proper release from Hollywood Post 90210.

I think Billy Crystal should host. Any thread with over 2200 looks deserves the best.
