Today Mr. Roy Waters stated that he had made a mistake in allowing a player to play for a neighboring post that he was not eligible to play for.

Because of his making a mistake he upheld the Protest that was filed by Post 66. He would not how ever reverse the won/lost records because he was the one that made the mistake.

He has stated that the young man in question be removed from the neighboring team and cannot play legion baseball for the remainder of the year. Should he play any and all games that he particpates in will be foreited to the other team.

I personally think that the records should be reversed but this is only my opinion.

They are never going to learn!!!

First of all congratulation to Post 66 for seeing it thru and getting an organization that rarely admits they are wrong to do so.

Now down to business. So when MooresvilleSupporter said; “ the Team Manager called the state before he did this because he knew that most ignorant people would not understand the rule book. THEY REALLY MEANT THE STATE COMISSIONER! How long do you have to be around Legion Baseball to be able to skip right to the top to get permission to twist the rules? And how many times does the commissioner get to be wrong?
As stated by RESPECTTHEGAME the state rule cannot be "less" restrictive than national rules.

Please read rule Rule 5 C. Forfeitures.

As copied and pasted from American Legion Baseball 2011 Rule Book. http://www.legion.org/documents/baseball/baseball_rules.pdf.
    PROTESTS RULE 5
    A. Protest Procedures. All department baseball committees shall, in their rules, define procedures for filing protests. This rule will specify how protests are to be filed, time limits, fees, if any, and with whom protests are to be filed.
    B. Written Proof. All protests of player eligibility must be specific, with written proof. All protests shall be filed with the department in accordance with department baseball rules. All protests must indicate the specific rule that is alleged to have been violated.
    C. Forfeitures. If a player is ruled ineligible, he shall be disqualified immediately and all games in which the disqualified player participated shall be forfeited.
    D. Game Protest. Protests of Official Baseball Rules during actual game conditions must be filed with the chief umpire before the next legal pitch.
    E. Appeals to National Headquarters. All protests involving player eligibility and filed with the National Appeals Board must be sent via the department chairman. (See Rule 10)

WHAT HAPPENS IF THAT ONE GAME IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SO CALLED “TEAM B” QUALIFIING FOR POSITION #8 IN THE DIVISION STANDINGS ?
“TEAM B” MAKES IT TO THE PLAYOFFS BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE DID NOT FOLLOW THE RULES AND “TEAM X/#9 GOES HOME UNTIL NEXT YEAR

    Step Down

Mr. Roy Waters should step down from his roll with American Legion Baseball.

    And the Oscar goes to....

Imagine this....it's a Sunday night in early March. Many folks are tuned in to the annual bash in Hollywood to see who wins the Oscar for unbelievable performances from the past year. Tom Hanks walks to the podium and announces "Ladies and Gentlemen....the 2011 Oscar for BEST DRAMA goes to....Mooresville Legion Baseball !"

The crowd is shocked, but even more so when the principals from both organizations take the stage and begin to tussle over who was meant to receive the award. The State Commissioner is in the crowd so he can settle it for sure. When he arrives on stage he informs the audience that he left his rulebook in the booth at McDonalds in Valdese, but not to worry...he can make a ruling anyway. His ruling: both teams can have the Oscar as long as Oscar was on their final roster by the deadline and Tom Hanks can't play for either team because he didn't get a proper release from Hollywood Post 90210.

Oh… guess what now there is another rule problem

    now Rule 5E applies

    E. Appeals to National Headquarters. All protests involving player eligibility and filed with the National Appeals Board must be sent via the department chairman. (See Rule 10)

How can you protest this any further if now the problem is the department chairman? How can he ever rule effectively in an appeal when he is the problem?

Well GOOGLE is an amazing thing. At National level the Americanism Chairmen is the National Program Coordinator for American Legion Baseball. His name is Jim Quinlan [email protected]

    Post 66

Glad to see that the commissioner finally got part of it right. I'm glad Post66 followed through with this, but also hope they learned a lesson themselves after being kicked to the other side. Lets not forget, Post 66 also stood behind the person in question when they thought he was on their side and allowed the "home school" to be moved to LKN ! These are the types of things that happen when things are done under the table. I hope this mess is over and the "HONOR" can be brought back into legion baseball in the LKN/Mooresville area, as I feel American Legion is still the best baseball to watch and play at that age ! :victoryg:
