Union County Post 535 wins tonight 15-0 over Alexander Co. post 170 to win the series 3 games to 1. Brad Elwood homered three times for UC, with two three run shots to right and a two run job to left center. Union Co. now gets to venture down to Cherryville for the second round.

GM 4: Rutherford County 14, Mint Hill 11

Another back-and-forth game with Rutherford County scoring 3 runs in the top of 9 to even the series at 2-2. Game 5 tonight at Butler at 7pm. Could be another high scoring game with pitching running low for both squads.

When's the last time the East won 5 out of the 8 first round series in the Area IV Playoffs?

I think it's been awhile. Probably around the time the East won the Area IV Championship.

    Hickory 14...Huntersville 0 (middle of the 7th)

Hickory was swinging the heavy lumber and Huntersville had some untimely miscues to bring about such a lopsided result. Hickory pitcher (Tyler Poole I think) was hitting his spots with his fastball and was in control all the way. The game was three outs from concluding when I left.....
