Union County knocked off Cherryville last night 6-4 in a pretty good baseball game. Union banged out 12 hits and got a stellar performance by there pitcher #2. Dont rember his name but the young man pitched very well. Could be a tuff road ahead for the Post 100 team.

Queen City Mustangs 11....Lincoln County 1

    Lincoln.. 100 000 00.....1...8...3
    Q. City.. 110 301 14...11..15...0

The Mustangs bunched a lot of hits and rode the strong arm of Olen Little to a nice win to open the second round series vs. Lincoln County. Little pitched out of a jam in the first inning and cruised from there, recording 9 strikeouts and looking stronger as the game progressed. The Queen City hitting attack was led by Eddie Hull (4 hits), William Frazier (3 hits) and Jackson Reisterer, who pounded out a no-doubter HR in the 6th inning to go along with a sac fly earlier. The Queen City defense was errorless and some nice plays were made around the infield, with great glove work by Hull, David Daniels and Patrick Langdon. Queen City leads the series 1-0.

    Winning Pitcher: Olen Little

    Leading Hitters:

    QC: Eddie Hull 4-5, 2RBI
    QC: William Frazier 3-5, RBI
    QC: James Snover 2-4, RBI
QC: Jackson Reisterer 1-3, HR, 2RBI
    LC: Parker Hills 2-4
    LC: Clayton Dellinger 2-4
    LC: Spencer Gardner 2-3

    Union County vs Cherryville

Cherryville answered the game 1 loss with a 15-3 win on the road. Cherryville led 5-0 early, which UC answered with 3 of their own. It stayed 5-3 until the eighth when Cherryville added 2, making it 7-3. 8 runs in the top of the ninth took care of what little sliver of drama may have been left. UC committed 8 errors, and Cherryville got a strong 8 innings from the Reynolds kid in the win. Game 3 tomorrow at Cherryville.

    Huntersville Down 2-0? WOW!

Someone who has been at the games let us know what's going on here? Has Huntersville's team all of a sudden decided to go to the beach for the rest of the summer? What's going on? You don't go 1 game from being undefeated in the regular season to getting hammered 2-0 and giving up 28 runs in 2 games without something being up!

Mikal Hill and Diego Perez had to leave to go to summer school at USC and Long Island. Adam Venditti (RS Freshman:Belmont-Abbey) was injured in the final game of the first round series and has missed the first two games vs. Hickory. Losing three starters, including 2 college veterans can really hurt a team.

quote from Huntersville coach in Hickory Record:

Huntersville (22-3) is in a back-to-the wall situation after losing more games in the past two nights than it did during the entire regular season and first round of the playoffs combined.
“I don’t have my team,” Post 321 head coach Trevin Smith said. “I’ve got five guys that are gone (playing summer baseball). This is not even a third of my team.”

Come on coach. What is your excuse for giving up two touchdowns per game from the bump? Credit the boys from Hickory for scoring 28 runs in two games.

It seems to be typical for this coach. The same thing happened with the North Meck baseball team this spring.
