    ??

is this a typical double elimination format? S. Caldwell has 1 loss, right? why is undefeated WJ playing SC tonight?

    Jr. Tourney format

Good question. Same thing happened last year in Durham. A one loss S. Caldwell played a no loss W. Johnston. Seems to be the way Legion does things. Not a regular double elimination if the winner of the winners bracket has to play someone who has already lost a game until the final game.
All three games yesterday were very good closely contested games.

I think Legion uses a bracket design that avoids putting teams that have already played eachother against eachother again. So the only way you will play someone a second time is for the championship.

Since Cary already played West Johnston and South Caldwell, and Leland already played West Johnston, then Cary and Leland have to play since they haven't played eachother yet, and South Caldwell has to play West Johnston.

Not trying to start something here at all so please delete (or I can delete) if it turns that way.

    West Johnston...

They have had a VERY good JR Legion program for the last few years. Yet they didn't make the HS playoffs this year from what I remember. Do the WJ JR Legion players split up and go to different high schools?

    W. Johnston

Having played them last year and seeing them again this year, seems they kept a team that was young last year together for this year to try and win back to back. Smithfield newspaper has a good article about them published about a week ago. Seems like a good group of players and coaches.
