Prayers needed!!!! Please read.

I would like to ask the Softball Family for their prayers for my goddaughter Sara. She is 19 years old. Sara and my daughter Liz played rec ball, school ball at Sun Valley and travel ball (Matthews and MSA) together for about 9 years. She is a wonderful Christian young lady. Sara has been diagnosed with CTEPH which is Chronic Thromembolic pulmonary hypertension. It basically means that she has chronic blood clots throughout her lungs and thus in turn causes the pulmonary hypertension. To complicate this situation, Sara has a blood disorder and has had her spleen removed. This means her body does not filter the clots like our bodies do. Her surgery is scheduled at Duke University Hospital this coming wednesday, the 27th. The surgery will last 8-10 hours. She will be put on a heart/lung bypass machine. Without this surgery, the doctors tell her she may live two years. Please keep her in your prayers. She would like to continue her education at Chapel Hill and become a doctor to help others with her blood disorder. Thanks in advance for your prayers and thoughts.

Thanks so much for all the prayers. Sara made it through the heart surgery. They were able to get the clots cut out of the arteries so her blood could flow again.
7 hour surgery but 7 is her lucky number
This was not a cure-all but will make a dramatic difference in her life and hopefully she will be able to go back to college.
Hug all your daughters as you never know when something like this may happen. I hope none of you have to go through what Sara's parents, Mike & Teresa, have been through since November.

Continued prayers are the key! Sara appreciates everyone's thoughts and prayers. The next 30 days are critical for her. She will be in ICU a few more days. Her heart pressures are better but will never be normal again.
Better beats worse every time!
