The Carolina Cubs finished Co-Champions at the Firecracker Classic held this past weekend June 23-26 at Coastal Carolina and area high schools in Myrtle Beach, SC. The championship game had to be stopped due to inclement after 6 complete innings with the score tied at 8-8. The Firecracker Classic selects 30 teams, each team has to win their bracket to advance to the championship round of 6, and then play 3 games on the final day. Throughout the weekend the CUBS played OUTSTANDING baseball with a combination timely hitting, aggressive base-running, stellar defense, and quality pitching. Heath Bowers '11(Harnett Central), Matt Tenuta '12(Apex), Dusty Tatum '12(Riverside), Adam Huffman '12(Western Alamance), Trey Thompson '12(Garner), Carlos Rodon '11(Holly Springs), Brian Taylor '11(Harnett Central), Dalton Britt '12(JH Rose) and Frank LaGuardia '12(Wakefield) were the stars on the mound. Leading the way offensively Zach Orrison 12(Fuquay-Varina), Markel Jones '13(West Brunswick), Brian Taylor '11(Harnett Central), Chance Shepard '12(Ashley), Stephen Hawkins '12(New Bern), Matt Towarnicky '12(New Bern), Dalton Britt '12(JH Rose), Adam Huffman '12(Western Alamance), Rookie Davis '11(Dixon), Heath Bowers '11(Harnett Central), Frank Laguardia '12(Wakefield), Daniel Adams '12(Sanderson), and Carlos Rodon '11(Holly Springs). The Cubs won their pool by 3-1, lost to South Charlotte Panthers 11-3, defeated National Patriots 4-1, defeated NVTBL Stars 14-2, and defeated East Cobb Braves 5-2. By winning the pool the Cubs advanced to the championship round of 6. Championship Round: Game 1, the Cubs defeated Heat Baseball behind the stellar pitching of Heath Bowers and Adam Huffman. Offensively Brian Taylor hit a 2-run homerun and Dalton Britt hit a 3-run walkoff homerun. Game 2, the Cubs defeated Danville(Ky) Baseball 4-2. The Cubs were led on the mound by Brian Taylor and at the plate Zach Orrison 2-3, Chance Shepard 2-3, and Matt Towarnicky 2-3. Game 3, the Cubs played 6 innings in the championship before it was halted. Dalton Britt pitched 5 innings allowing only 1 earned run. Offensively the Cubs were led by Brian Taylor 3-3, Zach Orrison 3-3, Markel Jones 2-3, and Daniel Adams 2-3. Congratulations to the Cubs on an EXCELLENT showing at the Firecracker Classic. Go Cubs!!!!

But how many YAK players have been recruited by D1 or D2 schools in the last couple years? The Website doesn't show any. Wins/losses really don't mean that much in terms of "showcase".

    WWB Results against ranking

    Dirtbags
    SC Panthers

Middle Tier: Half at high level schools some that end up at CC or d-2 (absolutely nothing wrong with that), some end after high career (again nothing wrong)

    CBC

    Heat
    Diamond Rats

Lower Tier: One or two players go to big programs, while other end after high school or play d-2, d-3 or CC, JUCO

    Lake Monsters

    Cubs

You left off GBC Prep Stars who went 3-2-1 with wins over Team Jersey Boyz and Banditos Black before losing 3-2 to EC Titans, narrowly missing bracket play.
