Just a note about Mt Tabor...Micah Wells (former Reagan HS) transferred in and he will most likely be there #1 with St Clair #2

Davie should be the favorite because of their starting pitching and they typically hit well

North Davidson might be in for a struggle but I think they are well coached and find a way

West Forsyth will be interesting this year. Will they hit like they can/should? Some of their players to watch who will need to contribute will be Jacob Campbell (P), Alex Smith (P), Eric Sonafrank (P), Nick Bequette (P), Tripp Shelton (SS), Zach French (C). Sonfrank probably stands to make the biggest impact but would be nice if 2 others could help

Reynolds - Watch out for Shane Sullivan & Hunter Anthony

Reagan - Pay attention to Brandon Vogler, Travis Tuttle, and Mitch Price

    SW4A - the usual suspects

Ok, there are 80 some posts and no SW4A talk so - I'll list some of the usual suspects plus a few more and ya'll can elaborate if you would like to.

Providence - Buttrey, Campana, Maddox, Herbert
Ardrey Kell - Thornton, Tiller, Stone, French
    Butler - Larson, Gerhinger, Eisenbath
South Meck - Koch, Nix, Mauldin
    Independence - Salisbury, Leckavich, Sardinia
Myers Park - Blaylock, Gau, ?
East Meck - Daniels, Reisterer, Sherer
    Rocky River - Galloway, Hutchings

Now these are just SOME players I've seen play and know, but I'm SURE I've missed a few and YOU can fill in the blanks....Hurry up Spring, I need my fix.

LOL....However, as much as Coach Koppe would love for Daniels to have another year, he has moved on.

I guess some of us were waiting on mincimi to do his preview on the SW4A. I guess it's a little early. But I appreciate the names mentioned. It helps me out when determining games to watch.

    Bulldogsbacker,
I will try to answer your Myers Park "?" to the best of my ability after watching these kids play for the last three years. Last year was a very unconventional year for MP. It is hard to figure out what happened, why it happened, why some kids played, why others did not, batting order, juniors playing JV etc. In My opinion James Snover was the star last year and did not play at all as a Junior. Gau probably batted 2nd best and he started out on JV as a Junior!! Good news is that it is now a new season, from what I have heard the kids are pumped and working every day after school, and are gelling with their new coach. (who btw has a sophomore son that I hear is a heck of a middle infielder and a D1 basketball prospect...and a great kid to boot)

The 2 kids you named Blaylock and Gau are definitely 2 of the best. Blaylock has an incredible arm and plays for On Deck/CBC. Gau is a hitting machine. Reminds me of Matt Diaz as how he can hit just about anything somewhere. He plays for Rock Hill batting center. In my opinion, MP does not have any superstars(at this time but wait til next year!) but these 2 guys plus Ross Groom CBC 1B will most likely be the top impact players. What MP does have is a bunch of very solid players that work very hard and play year round

2012 John Beaver On Deck pitcher Charlie Gordon Canes Pitcher Gau

2013 Groome Blaylock Feldman INF CBC Aluhm INF CBC Grayson OF/INF Canes Hobson OF/C Canes Fink P Canes Norris P Canes

Ross Jeffries played varsity last year as a sophomore but quit legion team to focus on Football(he is varsity QB). No one knows if he is coming back or if he has touched a ball/batt since last June but MP definitely could use him.

To sum it all up looks like shaping up to be a good year for MP. Next season should be even better when their strong Junior class are Seniors. Did hear there are 2 kids that are freshman that are very good.

Pitching should be solid and consistent. Blaylock is one of the best catchers I have seen and with Groome, Hobson, Grayson, Aluhm, and Gau hitting like they consistently do, it should be a fun year.

Best to all. Exciting to have such great high school baseball in Meck County!

*if i have left any kids that i dont know of off that i am not aware of it was not my intention

I saw Campbell (West Forsyth) at a WCU camp and at a showcase about two weeks later. Did not know he was a pitcher, but he can certainly hit the ball.

Will the IMECK have any strong teams????

I believe Mallard Creek overachieved last season in winning the conference tournament. It doesn't look like they will be strong this season. Nevertheless, I cannot knowledgeably handicap the teams for the upcoming season. Can anyone?

ballsand strikes it seems to me that if you know that that Mallard Creek overachiebed last year, you would have a pretty good assessment of the upcoming I-Meck season. I would love to hear it.

    Response to pirates05:

I watched most of last year's Maverick's games, but since most starters were seniors, I have no idea how the new players can play. So, I repeat: can anyone handicap this year's I-MECK, including Mallard Creek.
Not looking to pick a fight, but your attitude towards me seems a bit sarcastic. And we don't even know each other. Sorry if I offended you.
