The Butler Bulldogs find themselves in a tough spot this season and they need these four good ballplayers to contribute in the biggest possible way.
Gone is the infield of 3B Tommy Hibbard, SS Ryan Hodge and 2nd basemen Tyler Revell. But wait ...... these four can play and will finally get their deserved full time playing positions as seniors for the Bulldogs.
    3B/SS Tommy Ollis
    P/SS/1B Matthew Baltimore
    P/OF/1B Alec Hummel
    C Danny Concepcion

Add Matthew Rumble and footballer Malachi Hanes for middle relief and Andrew Moser backing up behind the plate and the Bulldogs could compete towards the top of their conference. Utility Jacob Whittingham and Max Lowery complete the returning players. I'm sure the JV will contribute, but I'm short on that information. I can't wait for spring.......

I expect to see a shuffle this year in the I-Meck with Hough ascending to the top and Hopewell falling off considerably. I expect lake Norman to remain near the top of the heap. Mallard Creek (tourney champ) was very solid last year but lost the heart of their team (Hill, Wilkerson, Boles)....Morgan is top shelf, but needs help. I expect Mooresville to be solid, and North Meck to be lagging. Hough coming on the scene took many good players from Hopewell and North Meck

    SPC projections today

Corey Seagers(NW Cabarrus)- Big time power and strong arm. USC commit and will probably move to 3rd base if not drafted

Tanner Bingham(NW Cabarrus)- Early UNC commit who hits with power from the left side and a plays a good steady second base

Jake Kimble(Mt Pleasant)- A smooth MIF who has some of the quickest hands on transition I have seen. Strong arm and hits well to both sides of the field. Quick feet and runs bases well. Liberty Univ commit.

Brody Koerner(Robinson)- Best pitcher in the area! Throws 90-92 with good movement, but his curveball is a big league pitch. Clemson Commit

Weston Smith(NW Cabarrus)- Solid mid to upper 80's fastball, with improvement on mechanics can be a solid D1 pitcher

Garrett Freeze(Central Cabarrus)- Solid lefthanded pitcher who probably throws 84-85. A good hitter and outfielder with a lively arm. Can be very effective when he can keep his composer on the mound.

Travis Watkins(Cox Mill)- Big time arm from behind the plate. Hits well to both sides of the field. NC State commit

Blake Sides(Hickory Ridge)- Barrells up the ball as consistent as anyone in the conference. Big frame with strong arm and runs well for his size. Western Carolina commit

Jake Barbee(Hickory Ridge)- Good athletic frame with pop to both sides the field. Catcher with strong arm but will be recruited as a hitter

Austin Fox(Cox Mill)- Strong year at the plate as a freshman last year. Will have to see how he develped this year on the mound

If you put Seagers, Bingham, Kimble, Sides in the infield, with Koerner on the bump, Watkins behind the dish and Barbee in the Dh spot, this group would give any all conference team in the area a run for their money.

If you knew anything about baseball in SPC you would not need stacts you would know that 2 of 6 are commited to d1 schools 1is got offers to d1 schools the other one have interest from lots of d2 schools. These boys have been hitters at every level from showcase to rec ball face some of the best pitchers in the state. So now i will ask if any other SPC team has that many d1 or d2 commited players in their top 6 hitters. Just wondering not a fan of any 1 school just have seen these 6 hit and know they are very good.

Any group that starts with Seager will be a formidable bunch and I do believe they are the team to beat. But seeing the way Hickory Ridge swings the bat as a team along with a senior dominated Cox Mill squad, it will be no walk in the park for the Trojans in 2012.

I am no kin to any of the players just call it the way i see it. By the way i have played with some of their brothers . Sorry if you took my post the wrong way. But that is what i think. And they are some very good teams in the SPC and i know each team will have to earn ever win they get.
