You forgot Subway sandwiches! I now know where literally dozens of their stores are located.

" Last year's Dirtbags team (2012's) included 8 UNC and 2 South Carolina commits among several others".

Did these players get selected based on their time with the DirtBags or were they good enough that they would have been offered just playing High School ball?

I think if you are D-1 material, you will be found at the High School level. If you are not, these showcase tournaments may help you get noticed....probably by the smaller D-2 or D-3 schools.

You are most definitely entitled to your opinion. That's one of the cool things about the core group of posters here.

Sometimes we get a rabble rouser who has a hidden agenda or is bitter about something. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

I happen to completely disagree with you but thats okay. I cant think of many players in the past several years that could be included in your group of high school players that could have limited their participation to high school ball only and still have been recruited by D1 schools. Madison Bumgarner comes to mind. And maybe a few other (very) hard throwing Pitchers. I think the position players need to be seen much more than in a few high school games in order to enable the D1 recruiters to evaluate them properly. So do the Pitchers for that matter.

Unrelated comment..... this post makes baylee a winner on the ” over” for this thread.

You won't see too many college coaches at high school games -- there's always an occasional exception, with the Jack Sink and East Meck Spring Break tournaments coming to mind -- but for the most part, the college coaches are busy coaching their own teams during the high school season. If you want your kid to be seen, he's got to play showcase and attend camps, IMO.

    Foiled Again

Thankfully the 'stakes' weren't too high on the bet anyway. :N1OopsHL:

I agree that attending the camps these coaches put on would be the best way to get noticed. With that being said, I still believe the best players are found outside of showcase expenses. The real question is do the Pro's get these guys. If they do, then the pecking order begins and showcase and camps can come into play. Just my opion and nothing more.
