Man, if I was a pitcher wanting attention from the scouts, this would be a must. There is nothing like this event in the Greater Charlotte area. In fact, it doesn't matter what area you are from. I understand that players from all over the Southeast attended the position clinics.

So there aren't many excuses; if you are a player deserving a chance at the next level...or you are a player with extraordinary talent wanting to perform in front of some of the elite programs, as well as many other outstanding one's, then this is the one. Don't miss this!!!!!!!!!!

I've always been partial to pitchers and love to see them perform, so I will be attending this one from beginning to end.

Last year the velo's, pop-times, 60's, were published.

Will they be posted this year?

Velo Comparison by Grad Year by Pitch

Here are Velocities from Last year's camp by Grad Year.
(so sorry, i'd have to load to a web address url for you see them)

    Interesting that.....

    1. No one throwing 90mph again (or, no need to spend the money if you do?).
    2. Only 5 threw FB's 85mph and above. (again this year)
    3. There seems to be a cluster, wall or hurdle in the low 80's.
    4. Tighter clusters of FB velo's closer to senior year.
    5. I have this much time on my hands. ;-)

What most people dont know is that the pitchers were asked to throw on both days Sat and Sun. There were some coaches on Sat that were not there on Sunday so the players had to throw both days and have something left for throwing for the larger crowd on Sunday.
The fact that you had 89 as top mph is not exactly as accurate as if it would have been one day only. Would probably had a couple of 90mph and more above 85mph with a one day event.

The Collegiate Skills Camp was well done. Jeff and staff did a great job. The guest speakers were very interesting and there was an impressive showing of college coaches on Saturday and Sunday. Yes, the pitchers did throw both days. I would think that colleges were aware of that and also that it is still January. Many pitchers have probably been shut down for November/December and are just starting back up. I think Jeff addressed that they didn't want the pitchers to do too much since it was still January.

In response to Hammerdog's post that velo's would have been higher if they only threw one day.

I can see how Hammerdog would assume that velo's would have been higher if pitchers only threw one day. The fact is velo's were higher across the board on the second day.

My only point was that if the pitchers only threw one day, that their numbers may have been higher, because throwing on back to back days takes something away from their strenght and would actually limit their performance, espeically if they are not at full strenght due to the time of the year, and the limited amount of throwing prior to the event. My opinion is based on weight training and how it works on me personally. The good thing is that all velo's should increase over the the next month and into the season.
Comparing the numbers to the last few years is unfair due to the format change, the past few years the players came in on a Sunday of choice in Jan. I think it was a 3 weekend event in the past with pitchers and fielders working out in the same day.
Either way the camp was a great opportunity for all that attended, and the coaches were very receptive to the talent in attendance.
