Anybody care to take a stab at how the CAP 8 will finish?

Broughton will be tough in my opinion with Cooper and Bialkowski leading the way... But more importantly because they have one of Wake County's all time great coaches now... Coach Harry Jones.

    CAP 8

Not sure who has lost what. Wakefield seems to always be tought but lost several good players from last season. Heritage will be young again with no Seniors on the roster and Enloe will once again be a spoiler team. My thought is the top 4 will be Wakefield, Millbrook, Leesville, and Sanderson. Sanderson returns all of its pitching and the top 6 hitters from last season. With Barrios's injury during football he will be missed by Leesville, as I have heard that he is not playing this season. Look for someone in the CAP 8 to make a run in the State's as it seems to happen each year. So I will take a stab at a finish:

    1. Leesville
    2. Sanderson
    3. Wakefield
    4. Millbrook
    5. Wake Forest Rolesville
    6. Broughton
    7. Heritage
    8. Enloe

Cap 8 is wide open this year

    My guess:

    1. Wakefield
    2. Millbrook
    3. Leesville
    4. Broughton
    5. Sanderson
    6. Heritage
    7. WF Rolesville
    8. Enloe

The Berrios football injury will hurt LRHS. I would not be surprised if Broughton or Heritage finished in the top 3 or 4.

Leesville Road opened with a 2-1 victory over Green Hope.

Sanderson 2-1 to start the year

The Spartans opened on Wednesday of last week with a 10-0 win over a bad Southeast Raleigh team. Sophomore Daniel Delaney picked up the win with a no hitter in his first varsity start.

Thursday Sanderson defeated Cary 3-2 on the arm of Senior Tom Preister. Tom went 5 innings and gave way to Joel Haran who pitched 2 innings for the save.

Friday night the Spartans lost a heart breaker at Pinecrest 3-2 in 9 innings. Junior Tyler Hardee pitched 5 strong innings before giving way to Joel Haran. The Spartan bats struggled but the defense is incredible. Juniors CAS Silber and Owen Langston made several great plays to keep the Spartans in the game.

Leesville moved to 5-0 with a win in their Cap 8 opener over Enloe 11-1 in 5. They will face Broughton on Friday.
