    Weekend Sweep

    Wingate's bats started off where they left last spring scoring 27 runs in three games this weekend in a sweep of Concord University 6-4, 7-5, and 14-5. Dodson McPherson drove in the first 5 runs of the season with two singles and a 3 run homer. Fun but chilly down at Wingate this weekend.

    It was a GREAT start to the 2012 season for the BULLDOGS! The weather cooperated and allowed a nice crowd to watch the Bulldogs open the season 3-0 against a Concord, W.Va. team that played in the NCAA D2 tournament last year.
    Big test this weekend as Mount Olive comes to town for a three game series. Expecting a bigger crowd and some great baseball!

    Wingate VS Mount Olive

    Should be an exciting weekend down at Wingate with #1 Mount Olive coming to town. Make sure you wear your long johns as it is supposed to be a little nippy this weekend.

    A little nippy??? It was arctic weather! If you stood still in one spot too long, you would be frozen solid. Never been to a baseball game when it was that cold. Football? Yes. But not baseball. Thank goodness for the concession stand. I could have rung Olen's neck when he came out of the bullpen Saturday night without sleeves. Hard head!
    We should have come away with two wins but at least we got one W against the #1 D2 team in the country. Conference play starts Friday night with some good weather:)
