Sad news

Southern Wayne outfielder and UNC commit, Kevin Wise, was found dead this morning at his home. I had the pleasure to help coach Kevin this summer in the state games for Region 2 and cant say enough what a great kid he was. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

My nephew played with the young man this past season. Quality kid and ball player. So sad.

Rest in Peace Kevin Wise

Inside Carolina was able to catch up with the Dirtbags head coach Andy Partin for some quotes on Kevin Wise.

"Kevin played for us this fall and was always a real treat to be around," stated Dirtbag Head Coach Andy Partin. "He really represented everything it means to be a Dirtbag. He was always the dirty shirt guy, playing every pitch as hard as he possibly could."

Wise starred for Southern Wayne for Head Coach Trae McKee and was listed as a top 1,000 prospect for the 2012 draft class from Perfect Game.

"He loved the game of baseball," Partin elaborated. " He had a tremendous future ahead of him for the Tar Heels. I was shocked when I learned of his passing. This is a very sad time in the Dirtbag family and in the baseball community. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. He will be missed."

Personally I can not imagine the heartbreak of a parent having to bury their child and certainly hope that all Diamond Heel fans keep Kevin Wise's family, friends and teammates in their thoughts (and prayers for those of you so inclined).

Fate can be very cruel taking away someone with so much of their life in front of them and puts the 'life and death' analogies so commonly used in sporting events into proper perspective in a moment like this.

 

Worst day ever..

This terribe news puts a previous post into perspective, while getting dismissed from your team is hard, a parent finding there 18 year old son dead has to be devastating. I also have a 18 year old who plays baseball, and this gives me a different outlook on life. God bless the Wise family.
