ECP Adds Coach With 40+ Years of Professional Experience

The East Coast Prospects are excited to announce that Moe Hill has joined the staff as a coach with the 2016 teams.

Moe Hill Bio:
Elmore “Moe” Hill just finished his ninth year overall coaching within the Orioles’ organization finishing up with the Aberdeen Ironbirds. Hill spent the previous 4 seasons with the Bowie Baysox and the 2003-2005 seasons in Single-A Frederick, serving as the Keys’ Field Coach and helping lead them to the Carolina League Championship in 2005.


Hill began his coaching career in the Kansas City Royals’ organization in 1980, spending three seasons at their Gulf Coast affiliate (1980-1982) before becoming the Royals’ roving minor league hitting instructor for the next three seasons (1983-1985). Hill spent two seasons in the Seattle Mariners’ organization as the Mariners’ roving minor league hitting instructor (1988-1989), before becoming a scout for the Chicago Cubs (1990-1994). Hill spent three years as the Cubs’ roving minor league hitting instructor (1995-1997). Prior to joining the Orioles, Hill spent four seasons (1999-2002) as Field Coach for the Tulsa Drillers (Double-A) in the Texas Rangers’ organization.


Hill’s playing career began with the Orioles after signing out of high school. He played in the Orioles’ system for four seasons before finishing out his 15-year professional career in the Minnesota and Kansas City organizations. Most notably, Hill won the Midwest League Triple Crown in 1974 and in was named the top player in the history of the Midwest League by Baseball America in 1999.


His wife’s name is Sara, and he has two children, Elmore Jr. (42) and Chris (35).

What a cool acquisition. As Southmecker said, I'd love to listen to some of his stories.

By the way, Moe does bear a resemblance to the Hill family. Just when I thought all the Hill's were already involved.
