    It should be fun

Fun to watch. Cuthbertson has a slew of LHP. Providence has no shortage of 6' + "a bunch" pitchers. And continue to produce quality hitting catchers. Thought my pocket radar was low on batteries until Buttrey hit 92, 94 and 95. But he cruised at 87-88 after he plunked one. So, i'd have to see more command of more pitches for a longer duration before declaring them invincible. Prov. coaches did an outstanding job of keeping several pitchers "on simmer" during the game while rotating them on and off the bump. C'son pitchers came in sort of cold, if i remember correctly. Not a good strategy keep your pitchers healthy.

Not sure how S.Carolina does their 4A bracket. Hmm....now who won SC 4A last year? I believe it started with an "S". :winkiss: A freshman listed at 130 lbs and 5'5" hit 2 HR's in the first 2 games of the series. Nice. Proving state championship play doesn't always come in big prototypical packages.

Buttrey definitely seemed to be cranking it up every now and then. I was down the line, not behind home plate, but he seemed to be throwing incredibly hard at points. He had pretty good command of his breaking stuff when he needed to. If you're throwing 93 or so, you don't need perfect off speed, but his looked good.

    Any reason Campana didn't play?

Jackson Campana tweaked his hamstring a month ago. Just being sure it's totally 100% before he's back in the field and sprinting. DH and pitching for now. Likely back full-time very soon.

I attended the SM/PHS and had some thoughts. 1st - Trent Thornton willed AK a win over a very good SM team last week and I believe he can do the same to any HS team.

PHS plays three games this week, SM/Weddington/Indep and will need all its pitchers.

Did not see a lot of PHS warming up, but what I did see was Buttrey staying loose during some of those long innings. Higgy takes care of his pitchers.

Buttrey velo was up in the 4th inn when he improved his mechanics. I was sitting behind some scouts and saw 95-96 in the sixth inning and 91-92 ish during innings 2-4. Change was nasty and curve was very good i.e., only saw one or two SM attempt to swing at it.

PHS played an exceptional game and coaches did an excellent job, but "any given Sunday" anyone can beat anyone!

Congratulations Weddington on a great game against Providence winning 7-6. Pretty impressive to beat Ardrey Kell, Charlotte Christian, and Providence in the last couple of weeks. Too bad about South Meck. I'd like to see your team play without so many injured starters. Good luck with your conference games.
