Tough first round match-up brewing in the 4A west - likely:

Ardrey Kell (16-3) or Providence (18-1) vs. either Reagan (14-4), West Forsyth (15-4) or Davie (14-3)

A very good team is going to be done early.

There are a lot of great possible first round matchups.....it's 4A baseball! I think there are 7 out of the possible 16 in the top half of the 4A West that could advance to regional final......

After last nights action, it looks like Davie is getting ready to take control of the CPC but they have a tough one tonight against North Davidson. It will be interesting to see what the loser of West Forsyth/Reagan does for the rest of the year....will they bounce back after 2 consecutive losses?

Ryan Foster for Davie might be starting to shine at the right time. Brandon Vogler has been a horse for Reagan as of the last month. West Forsyth needs their #1 (Ian Walsh) to get into stride coming off rehab quickly to help out the staff.

The last interesting aspect is the 4th seed in conference as Tabor, Reynolds, and North Davidson all have a shot at it

    History Lesson

Providence knows Ryan Foster well, and its not a good memory for them.

However, this is a different PHS team and there is momentum and a mission driving them. You won't hear a PHS response to this message because they are on a gag-order. BUT, I'll go out on a limb and say that they are clearly the front-runner and could run the table all the way to Raleigh.

Regardless of who they face when it comes playoff time, they will prevail. Greenville Rose may be the only team that can come close.

No pressure though.....right? Had a coach tell me one time that baseball was the only "TEAM" competition where sometimes the better team doesn't win....sure would hate to be on that awkward bus ride if they don't "get it done"......I think someone mentioned it in an earlier post about the stacked 04 S. Meck team.....the Panthers better be ready for 8 punches right to the mouth

The playoffs are cruel. The 2009 Ragsdale team was one I thought would easily win a state crown & they lost in the 1st round to Parkland. In 2010, Rocky Mount (with Hobbs Johnson & Benton Moss) lost in the 2nd round. One & done is tuff!

While I'm not a proponent of the one and done and have seen its cruelty against the '04 South Meck team, it does make for interesting matchups and produces ulcers for the coaches that are heavily favored.

With all of the success Higgy has had with Providence, his teams have never made through the Regionals much less the state ( I can hear Higgy now...thanks Braves for bringing that up.) There is a lot of pressure on this year's Panthers and no matter how mature they are, it's still HS kids. I wish them and particularly Danny, all the success this year. I'd love to see Coach Hignight with a State Championship ring, so he doesn't have to see his neighbor's.

I'm sure you meant to say though the Regional. Providence made the regional as a 4 seed in 2008 vs AK.
