Impressive win by GH. I've been telling you guys all year to watch out for Fuquay. "Fuquay's not that good" "Fuquay can't pitch" "Fuquay can't hit"... From someone who has seen a lot of Tri-9 baseball over the years, trust me. Fuquay will be there in the end, they are now 1 game out of first place.

I do not think anyone has disputed FV's talent. Heck almost everyone on this board predicted them to win the conference and they were ranked at the start of the season.

At this point with 2 or 3 games left odds are they will end up in a tie with either GH or MC at best unless both GH and MC collapse.

Given how they were the favorite to run away with the conference you have to think they have under achieved up to this point.

However I have not see anyone question their talent.

    I would agree.

I thought they would have won the conference easily this year and the Tri-9 has proven to be very competitively balanced....top down.

There have been a ton of close exciting games this season.

Page 2 had a couple posts downgrading Fuquay. Guess it wasn't as much as I thought in this thread but there were a couple posts. Who cares?

MC/FV/GH will finish 1/2/3. Apex will finish 4th. Lee County will sneak in the playoffs at #5. There it is folks.

I agree except I think it will be close between LC & HS for that last spot...PC has lost a few heartbreakers so they may be out.

    Last week of Reg Season

GH finishes late against Lee County, winning 10-3. LC simply ran out of pitching having had to play 3 games in one week (they won the other two, against very good competition). Nevertheless, Junior Daniel Weygandt goes to 7-1 for GH allowing 1 earned in 5 innings. Junior Luca Scelsi homered for the Falcons. Junior Smith Prevost had 2 doubles.

It comes down to this. FV must win its last game against Apex on the road on Tuesday to have any shot of sharing a conf championship with either GH or MC or both. If Lee wins its last two games, they are in. Otherwise, they open the door for PC or even Holly Springs. There are too many games that have implications for tie-breaking to cover all the scenarios now (at least with my humble brain). However, since Holly Springs must beat Lee on Thursday to have any chance, that would give HS two wins over LC and help with tie-breaking rules. HS split with PC this season. The big challenge for HS is beating MC on Tuesday, although they are at home. PC must win its last game next week at home (off Tuesday) to have any chance. The good news, all pitchers will be rested. Apex is in, most likely 4th seed, and can be a spoiler in the championship race, having to face MC and FV.

I heard there was another barnburner in FV last night in their game with HS. Next week should be just as exciting in the Tri-9. See you 'round the diamond.

This will be a very exciting week in the Tri-9. Lots of crucial games that have a major impact on seeding.

Agree with scenerios by FFalcon. I think Lee County will win last two games. They have been playing very well and will take last spot. GH has been better than I thought and their pitching has been great. Fuquay just doesn't have the pitching to go far but are always so well coached that you always need to watch out for them. Panther Creek had a great year and lost close games so I hate it for their seniors. HS cannot play defense or hit this year but should be ok since all their pitchers are young and could come back very strong next year. I see Cary only getting better and I hope they become strong contenders next year. With the new coach at Athens that all of the parents/players like they should be much improved next year. Middle Creek should have no problem at HS Tuesday and will make things very interesting for the final nights games. Was a great season to watch and I hope the playoffs are also!:19:

Looks like HSHS stayed alive with a hard fought 1-0 victory over MC. The last playoff spot could come down to a LC/HS game on Friday. With MC's loss it puts GH in the driver seat. FV loss to Apex ends their slim chances for a share of the conference as their season comes to a close.
