    ONE and DONE

This is the time of year that coaching and how/when he pitches his ace, becomes oh so important.

As for the players, its all about making the routine plays on defense and executing on offense, whether it be bunting or simply making good outs to advance runners.

Looking at the pairings above, if those are truly the brackets, I wont call no team names (so as to jinx anyone), but I see a very likely huge 2nd round matchup for 2 local teams looming.

No offense to anyone in the SPC, but this bracket is quite generous.
    Your #1 gets a #5, while all other #1's get a 4.
The #2 gets a #4, while all other #2's get a 3. So the number 2 seed in the conference gets to play the same seed as all the number 1 seeds from every other conference.
The # 3 seed basically gets a bye.
The #4 seed is the only one with a game set up like it should be.
The #5 seed gets the #1 seed from one of the worst baseball conferences in the state.

Pretty good draw for the SPC.

no offense taken. NCHSAA selects the format and the teams show up to play who has been scheduled ( unless I'm mistaken ). Play the games and I'm sure they'll be surprises in most, if not all of the brackets after round one...... I don't think they give out medals for winning a round one game either. Good luck to all the SPC teams and congrats to all of you for a very, very competitve 2012 regular season.......

Our #1 gets a #5 because its a straight up 8 team 3A. Our #4 and #5 both face #1 seeds in ER and Catholic and even though most agree that the Mega7 is not the best baseball conference on the 3A side, Catholic can play. I agree with you on MP and Harding, but the seedings are set before the season begins. The allotted number of teams benefit your conference as well, 3 teams from the SPC stay home and how many from the SCC get that "Harding" seed ? Look at the 4A SCC 3rd place finisher SV is a #1 seed with a 10-10 record and plays a #5 seed ... hmmmm? PR finishes last with a 6-13 record, with just 2 conference wins and qualifies for the playoffs? So only 1 team from the SCC didnt make it? Now thats a good draw...

For the record, I don't have a conference. I do tend to catch more of the SCC games because of where I live. But I see just as many SW4A and even some Rocky River games.
No argument on SV or PR. SV does not in any way deserve a home game and PR does not belong in the playoffs. For that matter, neither does Parkwood. All I was saying is that every SPC team, except for Hickory Ridge gets to play a lower seed than those seeded the same as them and one of their teams gets a bye.

Don't know about any of the other match-ups, but Northern Guilford is not a normal 5 seed. They were a win on the last day of the regular season away from being the conference champions. The Nighthawks have seen some of the best pitching in the state and won't be intimidated. They have two crafty lefty's who can keep teams off balance on the mound and are led at the plate by South Carolina commit DC Arendas who is hitting a little above .500 on the year. They are a good squad and can't be taken lightly.

Its the the NCHSAA model and its been that way for what... 3 years? I dont agree with it and for the life of me can't understand why they can't seed the brackets accordingly but it is what it is ... just win and advance.
