    CPC

CPC sweeps the SW4A conference!!!!!! I believe I would have taken the field vs Providence. Congrats to Mt. Tabor, Reagan, West Forsyth, and Davie County. Good luck to all of the CPC teams in the 2nd round. Maybe they will finally get some respect.

    Dudley beat SW Guilford.

And with Providence losing, the bracket would have opened up for Southwest. Dudley scored 5 runs in the first inning and got nothing after that!

Started with Wells and then went to St Clair about half way through the 9 inning game.

For me it is the same as it was at the start and in reality the same as it is nearly every year. to win the west year in and year out someone will have to go through South Caldwell. Same this year. We have the unlucky privalege of being in the same conference as them and have to play them at least twice a year. they may not win it all every year, as no one does but they are one of the ones you have to beat to get there every year

I would probably add Davie and Southeast Guilford as favorites and after last week all of the CPC teams have got to be feeling pretty good and would be hard to count out.

    Incomprehensible..........

One day high school coaches around NC will realize that you MUST start your 1 in the first round......I don't care if your 2 is 27-0 in his high school career.....in a one game playoff you go with your best.....the coaches that moved their 1st round games up to Thursday and won are geniuses because now they are guaranteed to be able to throw their 1 in both rounds...period end of story!

Suicide watch in the Southwestern 4A I bet.........

They look smart until round 3 when their #2 is throwing against someone else's #1....then again...you don't look to the next round until you get there...

    Totally Agree

What message are you sending your team when they get to the park and your #2 is going that night in the biggest game of the year? I don't care how good your #2 is! Message: "This team is not very good we don't need to start our best guy." Team lets guard down plays a bad 1st inning, opponent is pissed off and comes out fists flying because they have been disrespected! The tone is set for an upset because of the coaches decision not to go with their best in a lose and go home format. Kids are kids, this happens all the time in sports. All great coaches know this! Give your team the best chance to win THIS game!

Just guessing but maybe this might have had something to do with what happened Friday at Providence. Nobody seems to want to come on here and tell us all what happened!! Why the silence?????

I see your point, but it is still no guarantee.
    Example:
I "scouted" Providence and Ardrey Kell last Monday in the SW4A Tourny Championship - just in case we hade the good fortune of playing one of them later. We will not. We lost.
Anyway, they both threw their #1 (Thornton and Buttrey). I personally felt Thornton was the best on the field that day. He was mowing! Then comes the 5th (I think) and Thornton is gone. "Good move," I tell someone beside me. "With only 47 pitches today, he will be ready for Friday." He was ready, I assume, as he started against Reagan. Reagan won.

Now, on the flip side, Buttrey went the distance in the championship game and won it. He, I assume, was not ready for Friday against Tabor. Tabor won.

Notice that in both scenarios - one where the #1 was shelved and ready, and the other where a #2 ( I guess according to some of you) started game 1 of the playoffs - in both, the teams lost.

Now, what argument do you have here?
#1, #2... start this one, save that one - nothing is guaranteed either way.

By the way, it's pouring today. I doubt there will be many in the triad played tomorrow. Who starts thinking about bringing #1 back Wednesday for game 2?
So everyone can now start chiming in on that decision facing coaches. Blah, blah blah, blah blah.
