This post may come from a biased stand point, being that I am a tri-9 guy, but it seems that year end and year out to get to the 4a state championship from the eastern bracket you have to go through these two conferences. And if you wanted to place a bet at the start of the season if you bet that a team from one of these conferences would be in the state championship game then that would be a pretty safe bet. I am not suprised the these two conferences went a combined 10-0 in the first round this year.

I would agree that speaks to the strength of these two conferences. The Mideastern has sent a team to the Eastern Finals for 5 years running. Ashley in '07, Rose in '08 and '09, Laney in '10, and Ashley in '11. And the last two Eastern Finals Series have featured a team from each conference-- Laney vs. Lee County in 2010 and Ashley vs. Holly Springs last year. Two of the toughest conferences around, top to bottom.

    Teams remaining Tri nine

Tough loss for Green Hope last night but still feel that when Gilbert was NOT on the mound this year they were easier to beat. Although they had a tone of wins, Gilbert was the ace and the confidence just seemed to be there when he was pitching.
Middle Creek and Apex I believe will be the horses left in the race from the tri-nine after Friday. The strength of pitching just cannot be overlooked in tournament time and MC and Apex have it. Just look at Holly Springs last year...Rodon never threw in the Eastern finals if I remember correctly.
Should be a good game tonight in Fuquay. Does anybody know who is on the mound for both? I would assume Baraski for Fuquay as Suggs pitched Friday but heard that Wantz and Fortier combined in Wakefield win. I still do not believe that either HS or Fuquay has the pitching to go much further.

TG13, doesn't matter who pitches (Gilbert included) if you can't get hits yourself. Credit for the win over GH should go to Laganke who pitched a 1-hitter for Millbrook. It was no accident. I saw it. Laganke only walked 1 batter, only 3 reached base (1 on dropped 3rd strike that the catcher couldn't find) total. Sometimes, the opposing pitcher is just on.

Looks like each conference has one team remaining.

Middle Creek from the Tri-9 and Ashley from the Mideastern. Maybe they will see each other in the Regional Final to put some bragging rights for each conference on the line?

    Millbrook @ Middle Creek
    Richmond County @ Ashley

Where/when will the Regional Final be for the 4A East?
