And call me crazy, but having a #4 like Tabor beating a #1 (by the way, still playing in the third round) works against your argument about throwing out everyone lower than #2... at least I think it does.

The one and done format is AWFUL.....best 2 of 3 all rounds. You have to win 12 games to win a state championship......that way the best team will win the gauntlet.....and one arm doesn't get you!

If you cannot get it done, you go home....

Come on gentlemen, the "dominators" in the SW just did not/could not get it done when they had to. It is the same phenomena as the" Tom No-names" who are able to lead the PGA field on Thursday and Friday in the golf tournaments but just can't show up on Sundays. Pressure changes performance. When a young man feels the pressure, he gets tight.
Some of those schools have now earned the reputation of tightening up enough to be beatable. We need to stop berating the coaches and their decisions and accept these games were lost on the field.
My comments are not intended to put the players down. It is life.
My real plea is to the "parking lot" parents who are still bad-mouthing coaches about pitching choices and other decisions.

BTW, we lost last night to a Mallard Creek team that up to now shows no fear. They make mistakes but find a way to put their mistakes behind them. Sort of glad we don

Tonyfossas, we cordially should agree to disagree..

I totally respect your opinion. But, I don't agree that it ought to be about "the best team" should win. Like the NCAA big dance, the team that gets through everybody they play ought to be the champ. That is what makes it the great event it is.
Otherwise, let's just decide who the best team is and hand them the trophy without any playoffs.
Anyway, now that LN is out, my stress level is down and I can pick who I will go watch........and write about.
Good luck to every team left.

I know why CatCoach wants that conference to go to playing the same opponent each week! I think basketball has it right where they did the seedings this year. Seed your #1's, #2's and #3's and fill in the rest with the top #4's from each conference record wise. I did this in one of the 3A East threads on how the bracket could have been based on this. Just some food for thought

    Why do you think, exactly?...

I want it because it's "baseball" - college does it, pro does it.
I then have to develop a pitching staff. (We play 24 games in our season - the max. Some teams play 20 or 21, just so they only play two a week whenever possible. <-I admit that last statement may be just sour grapes on my part.)
It also would support the overwhelming request of most folks that the NCHSAA go to 2 of 3 format in playoffs - we would be doing a little more of practicing what we preach/walking the talking - at least I think? Make any sense?
