Bostic with the win. Bats continued to roll. Chris Simpson with 3 RBI double to get it started. Payden Honeycutt 2 RBI single, Bostic and Schellhorn both with rbi doubles.

Once Simpson hit the double to start the scoring the flood gates opened.

Game 2 tomorrow night at Weddington at 7.

Unfortunately David Pope strained a muscle in his leg. Here is to hoping he can be back as he is needed in his relief roll!!

Weddington wins 12-2 in 6. Payden Honeycutt gets the win for the Warriors....after a rough first giving up 2 he settled in and was awesome. The bats are HOT for Weddington right now....they are off to the state championship series. Good luck boys....bring one home to Union Co!

Honeycutt was asked to deliver on the mound when he had only seen it one time this year and he delivered. Pounded the strike zone and let his defense work.

    Other highlights:
Jeremy Schellhorn starts the scoring with a solo HR
Chase Prillaman has huge squeeze bunt that results in run and a hit and creating a momentum that was not given up
Jeff Welch gets first playoff start and delivers with a hit and the game ending sac RBI
Bostic stays hot with the bat including RBI double
Connor Newton with a Triple to lead of inning.

Great team chemistry here. Hope to continue the run through next week.

Congrats to N. Buncombe for their playoff run.

    Weddington's bats are really hot.

13 hits on the night, by 8 players. 7 players with RBI's.

Honeycutt pitched a heck of a game. If he felt any pressure at all, it was not apparent. He's been a 4 year Varsity starter and his leadership showed. Even when what seemed like a great pitch was called a ball, he stayed focused and just threw it. He has a lot of confidence in the defense....All of the pitchers do. All of W's pitchers have a comfort level not many other teams can experience, first and foremost to the unbelievable job Knight has done in the Catcher position.

Of course when you outscore your opponents in the State Tournament 47-7, it becomes a lot easier to relax and just pitch.
