You just don't get it.....I don't think you understand baseball and that is why you can't/don't cover it. Let me break it down for you:
    • This kid is leading the entire nation (that would be all Division 1 college baseball pitchers) in WHIP....a true mark of a pitcher's effectiveness as it measures Walks and Hits per Innings Pitched
    • he pitched a complete game one-hitter recently vs. San Dego State...that would be Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn's team
    • He owns a victory over Cal-State Fullerton, perennially one of the strongest baseball programs in the country
    • He was recently ranked 8th in the entire nation in ERA (1.55)
    • He was named Conference Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year
    • There is a great backstory here....didn't make his middle school team...not the star player on his HS team...now a potential All-American in his frosh season half way across the country (not recruited by the big name programs here in NC/SC)
Anybody that knows anything about baseball knows that level of performance deserves more than a "shout out"....a mere mention among the recent 2-4 with 4 RBI performances of local baseball and softball players.

Not even from the Charlotte area and I agree wholeheartedly in what Low & Slow is saying.....this is quite an accomplishment. It is the same as what Rodon has done at NC State.....the two best freshman pitchers in all of college baseball are from the state of North Carolina.

Seriously, Mr. Wertz! A "shout out" is something that you blurt out on JohnBoy and Billy when you win Wordy-Word. What Preston Morrisson has accomplished is so impressive and deserves recognition. What an example to all kids to keep working towards their dreams. ...on the field or off.

I agree...Rodon has been fantastic. He seems so mature and I believe he is a classic righty power pitcher....Morrison is a finesse sinker-baller who just gets weak contact batter after batter.

Forgive my ignorance, but Rodon's a lefty, right?

    Rodon is LHP

Yep. LHP.. And he did a fine job on Saturday. I had great seats for the FSU v Virgina game. But NCSU v UNC was standing room only. New record for attendance of a college game in NC. 10k+. We were standing near the bullpen so I got a good look. Standing for 12 innings.

Thick lower half on Mr. Rodon. Total different look than Preston. Or should I call him "Mr. Morrison" based on his performance. Morrison is longer and leaner and throw like ...maybe a lanky version of Walter Johnson. Accept he's the evening train (get it..."PM train"). As is in TCU took the "PM train" to Omaha.

Hopefully you'll see some more pitchers out of Cuthbertson getting their due in the next few years. Talented hard working boys. Lefties and righties.
