3A Finals - Weddington Vs Aycock

Union County will always be a baseball haven of talented players. More people will continue to move into the area for various reasons...as well as the north side of Charlotte.

The only downside to this migration is the traffic. If they ever get that fixed, the city of Charlotte will be changed forever.

 

Great accomplishment by Weddington. All season long, I thought they were one of the most talented teams in the 3A and they just needed to put it all together. They did that and with the help of a lot of upsets in the 3A bracket, rolled through the playoffs. Very talented overall and with one dominant player in Bostic.
Winning the 3A and beating Providence, AK and Hough is quite a season.

On another note, I saw 3 Weddington playoff games but was not going to drive to Zebulon for the championship series. I heard a lot of chatter during the Regional series game at WHS that it would be nice if the state would hold some championship stuff in Charlotte. Most state title events being in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area is quite an advantage for those teams in that area.

 

One reason they use Zebulon and NC State is they don't charge the NCHSAA to play the championhip games at their faciltiies....

My son and I drove down to Zebulon Saturday to cheer on the Weddington Warriors. It has been a great season watching this team grow and develop into champions. Congratulations to Coach Poole and the whole Weddington community. It is great to see these young guys devote themselves to a cause and have the drive to achieve and to represent their school and community in such an outstanding way.

UNCC and Charlotte Knights wouldn't either. If that is the only reason, let's share every other year.

 

Congratulations to the Weddington High School 3A State Baseball Champions.

Stop the whining and give credit to a TEAM that outlasted and out-played all others in the tournament. Next year it may be your favorite team.

Some teams are out-talented and some are out-played. We've heard about all the talent on some teams but they were outplayed on occasion. That's the excitement of sports. It teaches you about life.

Oh well. To all you seniors that will not be playing at the next level, congratulations on your journey. Your hard work and discipline will help you in school and work. Many employers like hiring athletes that have shown a strong work ethic. Good luck.

On to summer ball where some of these kids who have played against each other become teammates. I love it. See you on the fields.
