Most are deserving of this honor, but some boggle my mind on how they got All-State. Either there stats were padded or its who you know. One girl I know batted .688 and another was 19-1 as a pitcher. Neither played on my team, both made All-District, but not All-State. Not blaming Pop, but someone made a mistake. Any way, Congratulations to the girls that got selected. Most are very deserving of this honor. Shame on the coaches who padded stats to get there girls in!

Of all the ones that I know and/or have seen play I can say every single one of them is worthy of the All State award.

    Congratulations!!

I have to say there is only one that I saw that made my eyes go all buggy, as they did on all-district, as this unnamed player would be lucky to start on a good rec team and did not contribute much or often in her 1.5 years on Varsity.

Otherwise, I think Pops & company did an outstanding job and ALL of these girls should be proud of themselves.

On a side note: I think Co-Pitcher's in the East in the 4A division should have been given consideration, as the final head-to-head in the east was definitely a pitching dual.

Ok first I want to whole heatedly commend everyone who helps put together this for the girls. The effort is commendable.
Now the results are very dissapppointing though. Not that someone was left out but that everyone was included. If it is ever going to mean something it is going to have to be given to those who achieved at the highest not just those who competed. It is an award it should be earned.
just a little example of what im talking about. I went through and counted just those listed as pitchers and here is what i found
    1A-27 pitchers
    2A-32 pitchers
    3A-29 pitchers
    4A-24 pitchers
That is a total of 112 girls who made "all state" as a pitcher????????
did any pitcher not make it? Honestly 2 pitchers each classification would be much better. one first team, one second team then it would mean something special

Using that same logic you definitely would have had to do that for the West. I like the single-player award above the co-player. It just adds to the honor of the award knowing who was next in line, or who could easily have been named co-winner.

No surprises to me. If you are a member of the assoication your girls make it. It's easy math. My daughters were excited when they started the all-state but after a couple of years and they saw some of the ones on the list, they lost interest. It's a nice gesture, but it carries no weight. These coaches who nominate girls who didn't make all-conference needs to be ousted from the process. People get on here and complain about coaches not nominating their players, but they should be upset with the ones who abuse it. When coaches who actually see these kids all year in their conference and don't vote for them for all conference. Then it is a joke to say they are all-state. I know Pop has the best intentions but some of his posse is messing up that plan.

It is a joke. No one cares who makes it in softball because of the points already made earlier. Cut it down to 20 in each class to give it the respect it should have. Its the same old same old schools getting the heaviest numbers . A few deserve it and most get it because their coach is on the committee. YMCA philosophy of everyone should make it.

One of the reasons the "same old schools" are getting the heaviest numbers may be an indication of why the same old schools are in the final rounds of the playoffs.

Just because a team is loaded doesn't mean their players should be denied recognition. Those players are what makes the teams successful.

I get around to quite a few games outside our conference and see many of the players on this list. The names I'm familiar with are legitimate; they are worthy. I wonder how many others see beyond their team, beyond their conference, beyond their favorites.

There is room for improvement for sure but there will never be a way to satisfy everyone. There will always be exceptions.

    Good post.

The process will never be perfect and it's fair to discuss how it can be improved. However, I think this can be done without denigrating the players who are recognized by the current process.
