Matt McKay would be a very good choice.

Matt would be a great hire. Great baseball guy, people person and wants to build a strong program. Has done wonders for a Brevard program that was floundering from last to third place in two years.

Both UNCG and App are not putting themselves in good positions waiting so long. App and UNCG, especially App St, are getting very close to possibly losing incoming recruits if the uncertainty continues much longer. August is not very far away and some incoming recruits may already be getting cold feet.

Jarrett interviewed at App St but not sure if he did at UNCG or not. Unless UNCG makes a very sizable offer to Jarrett than dont see him taking it. That was the sticking point of him supposedly taking name out couple weeks ago but not sure how true that was.

Yes there are some very good coaches who have put their names in the hat and have not heard much. Im sure some NC schools are using this against both App and UNCG in their recruiting.

As a UNCG alumni, I am very interested in who ends up as coach. You ask most high school kids in NC where they want to play D1 in North Carolina, UNCG is seldom mentioned. Really bad, great city, nice location in NC, and baseball facility to die for. Coaching has been an issue or challenge with recruiting as Coach Gaski was not known as people person.
Instead of an assistant coach from a school, how about a proven head coach from a nearby school? Ed Fulton has done a very good job at Averitt University in Danville Va, and is an Florida State guy which fits the pattern of the current administration of where it is getting relationships from. Ed knows how to win, knows the local schools in the NC/VA area, and I am sure would at least listen to a D1 job though he has been at Averitt for many years. He has minor league playing experience and is passionate about the game, something UNCG needs to connect with the local community.

Both App St and UNCG are in very good shape for next year. The main concern is to hire the "right coach" , whatever that may be. Young, great game coach, energetic, good recruiter, people person, with some experience. Don't rush it, get it right. With that said, within a couple of weeks, both positions should be filled.

You ask most people and they will say UNCG is a damn good job and should be near the top of Southern Conference every year. Like you said they are in a great location and have probably the best facilities in the conference. Can they afford to pay big $$ to bring in a "big" name? Part of the scuttlebutt going around is they are trying to get enough money to do just that. In order to get a one of the ACC or SEC assistants to UNCG they are more than likely going to have to pay. They dont seem too interested in some of the assistants throughout the SOCON so are they going after one of the other head coaches?

As far as App and UNCG being in very good shape for next year. Ill agree App St is in good shape especially compared to UNCG but App did lose a ton. But they are coming of the best season in school history, tied for regular season title, atlarge bid and won 2 of 3 at LSU and have several good players coming back. So they have to capitalize on the momentum which taking so long to name coach is going to slow down a little but not much. UNCG on the other hand will be more of a rebuilding process for someone but should be able to turn it around very quickly.

    Coach McCay

I have known Matt since middle school. He would do a great job at uncg. He has been successful and probably even overachieved at everything he has ever done. If he were to get this job and bring coach Allingham with him, I don't think they would be too far behind in recruiting. Coach Allingham knows most every kid in NC, probably SC & Ga too. They are both tireless workers.

Yep and that's why it makes sense to hire Coach Moore. Continuity from last years success, familiarity with the current players, their recruits know him and he'd keep Coach Scheffler, the volunteer pitching coach, on staff too. Makes so much sense, they probably will hire someone else!

Im hoping they hire Moore too but not sure what they are waiting on? The longer they wait the more it looks like they are going with the other guy.
Not sure which situation is more of a mess UNCG or App St:apeani:

Has McCay or Fulton been in contact with UNCG? Like someone else said several people have applied but no one really has heard anything back which gives the rumors, that they already know who they want, legs. Plus people on the search committee do not even know what is going on so sounds like its a one women show. She has been at FSU and UVA so who with ties to those 2 schools?

That would be an excellent choice. I wonder if the AD understands how much respect Matt garners across the state with players and coaches.

There is another excellent candidate whom fills every credential needed. I am not at liberty to divulge his name, but he would fit the position perfectly.

He also has the full support of the Martin's--so if they have been helping the AD in their search, he should be interviewed.

If they are going after a particular person and don't interview other's interested, it would be a great disservice to the program.

This is the "hot" times for recruiting; they don't need to wait much longer.
