and that is the man I spent tireless hours trying to help to get him an interview. "He wamted too much money"...BS...they never will know because they didn't ask.

This was the man they needed...and they screwed that up!

    McCay

Money was not the issue with Matt McCay. He just wanted the chance. He may not have had the years of D1 experience (only a world series with UNC). Not called back for second interview, only Link Jarrett and the Georgetown head coach received the second interview as far as I know. Not sure of the holdup. UNCG not being fully funded perhaps. Heard they only had 9 scholarships. Facilities are awesome. UNCG could be one of the top baseball programs in the state/southeast. I am sure Link Jarrett would do a great job too, but would it be a pay cut. Something seems weird. App State and Duke got it done much quicker.

Atleast McCay got an interview. Even if it may have just been because they had to interview people. Like said before some very well respected coaches did not even get a call back.

Look back at my post from June ( I believe...).
I wasn't right with Martin Jr., but I was right-on with the FlaSt connection.
I do not know Coach Jarrett, but seems to have the goods coaching-wise.

However, I have met (would not remember me...) and listened to Coach McCay in clinic situation, and he seemed to have great character, knowledge of the game, and did great job (baseball and otherwise) with players under him from those I knew of who played for him. A NC guy as well.

I guess I feel they they may have, well, I'll say "tripled" when maybe they could have "homered"...

I hope no one is offended, but I guess it's possible. Sorry if so.

I am not offended but completely disagree with you. I'm sure McCay is a good coach and has great character and a good person...and of course as you have mentioned a few times is a NC guy. However his resume is not even close to that of a Link Jarrett. Let's face it, the first time he was ever allowed off campus to even recruit a player was at his current job. Yes he worked at UNC and went to a CWS but he was a volunteer coach. He did not recruit off campus, his responsibilities were limited, all volunteers are. Coach Jarrett has been at some very good schools and has been doing it for a long time. Plus he too has coached and recruited in NC. Not my intention to offend anyone either...but let Coach McCay get his feet wet a little longer and get more experience

I would like I add that I do think Coach McCay is a good young coach and with a few more years he will be a fine Division I HC. I was not trying to be-little him as a coach or what he has done in his career just pointing out that his resume is a little short compared to Coach Jarrett's and a lot of the other candidates. To even get consideration is a testimate to him. If he can win and build Brevard up, like say a Pollard did at Pfeiffer...then I think he will be ready for a pretty good DI job. This is all my opinion of course and some will dis-agree. I think that UNCG got a great coach and one who will do great things for UNCG baseball...

If you have Coach Jarrett's ear, advise keeping Dustin Ijames on.
From former staff - but not of former staff - if you get my drift.
He knows the landscape: the players already there, the conference competition, the area (state) for recruiting, has been on-field and in "operations" at UNCG. One good, solid (not volatile; well-liked) connection to what "has been" could be a plus...
