Saw that they had switched from DII to NAIA. Anyone know why they did this? Is this a good decision for baseball and for their athletics in general?

Did the change in conference help them geographically with travel, put them in a group of colleges that are more similar to them, or put them on a more competitive playing field, etc.....

Just did some Googling and saw the reason. They merged operations with another school in Florida that was NAIA. Once this happened, the NCAA made them ineligible for post season play. They weren't able to work it out with the NCAA and switched to NAIA.

O.K. answered my own question.... but there may be more to the story than what I found with a quick search. If so, let me know.

More importantly....How's the baseball program there? Coaching, funding, competitiveness, etc...

From what I know they haven't had the most competitive teams in the past... Definitely not the best facilities so probably not a bad idea for the move.

It has been a coaching carrosel there. The school almost lost its accredidation over financial concerns and had to be bought out to survive. they have a 2nd year coach, former app assistant. hope he can make them competitve again.

Matt Boykin is no longer the coach at St. Andrews. He is now the recruiting coordinator at UNCG with Link Jarrett. The new coach was on his staff. Andy Fox is now the recruiting coordinator at St. Andrews. He was formerly the HC at Wilkes Community College.
