9U Nexel Level Scots Tryouts

The Next Level Scots are based out of Laurinburg, NC. The 9u Next Level Scots will hold try-outs. The team is looking to fill 2 full positions and 1 or 2 alternate spots. NLS is one the areas premier teams. The team plays about 50 games per year. As an 8U team, the team was 48-4 in travel ball and advanced to the semi-finals of the southeast regional (7 states covered) for Cal Ripken. The team was 21-7 last fall and played up in some 10U tournaments. We prefer our players play in our local baseball program, but this can be discussed if there issues that make this not feasible. Tryouts for the 9U baseball team (Child cannot turn 10 before May 1, 2013) for 2 fulltime spots and 1 alternate spot will be as follows:

Sunday Jan. 20th @ 2pm
Sunday Jan. 27th @ 2pm
Sunday Feb. 3rd @ 2pm
Thursday Feb. 7th @ 6pm
Sunday Feb. 10th @ 2pm

Prospects must attend at least 4 of the above workouts.

52 games played at age 8 -age 8?!?!

And how can you be "premier" anything at 8 years old?

This is not intended as a personal insult... just another head shaking at where the culture of sports has gone. Heck, the whole culture for that matter.

 

Definition of Premier - "first in position, rank, or importance."

I think 48-4 qualifies.

It is a different age. These kids have more access than we ever did. These kids do things at 8 that we didn't do at 10. At the end of it all, they have a blast doing it and aren't sitting at home playing video games like their peers. If we could get the rest of the kids in America to be this active in something, there would be no weight epidemic.
