Is it true that Area 3 is losing four teams in 2013 including the powerhouse South Rowan program?

Other than S.Rowan who else is not coming back. Also S.Rowan has been a respectable team, but when did they become a powerhouse?

There have been rumors of South Rowan being moved to Carson High School. If that happens THEN it would become a powerhouse, as it would get all the Carson, South Rowan, and even some East Rowan kids. But that is just a rumor. South Rowan Legion had a terrible season last year if I remember.

I wish Legion Baseball would allow players to compete in another organization once the legion playoffs begin, instead of saying that you cannot play with another team while the playoffs are going on.That forces a kid to choose one or the other. Little league baseball tried that several years ago, saying that once allstars began, you could not play aau or usssa, that lasted a couple of years. Once they lifted the ban, you saw travelball players come back and compete. The LL teams that win on espn are mostly travel team players that have come back to compete with their local LL.

Carolina Angel, I don't remotely get the logic. Enlighten me to how any of the scenarios you are speaking builds a team concept.

I'm not sure where the title to this thread came from, but I have 18 kids every summer that absolutely love playing American Legion baseball. As long as we have that, I don't care what anyone else thinks. Call it what you want, but it's for the kids. With our program, that is fact instead of some flowery catch phrase or slogan. If some greedy, irrational adults would get out of the way then things in the Legion world would be even better.

Furthermore, what exactly is your goal with this thread?? This forum is for acknowledging Legion players and trying to get a better understanding of Legion baseball. Your question is fine. I don't know yet how many teams will be in Area III for sure. Most likely going to lose two senior teams, but just can gain anything positive out of the title.

I don't think it's dead, but I think that there are only a handful of programs around where kids see playing for the local legion team as a major goal.

For instance, in my legion district, most of the best players do not play for the local legion team. It seems that the top underclassmen have played jr. legion, but most move to showcase by their sophomore or junior year of high school.

What do all the high school seniors do the year before they go to college? If they aren't playing Legion, I don't get it... Unless of course there isn't a team in their area.

It's going to be an ongoing battle between Legion/Showcase/Summer League for all the underclassmen. That's not going to change.

A couple of very good college bound kids in my area were interested in playing legion following their senior year. But the school they signed with required them to start summer school during the second summer session. As a result, neither ever played legion ball as both had previously done showcase.

    Nope

Its not dead, just going to have to evolve some. Is it next year college kids can't come back?
Might loose 4 teams in Area 3 but still got 15 left.
