NW 3A/4A Predictions/Players to Watch

My early stab at the conference pre-season standings:

1. Watauga - 4a
2. AC - 4a
3. South Caldwell - 4a
4. Saint - 3a
5. Hickory - 3a
6. Hibriten - 3a
7. Foard - 3a

I think Watauga will be tough this year. AC was really young last year and struggled against teams like Hickory and South. They're basically the same team as last season except more mature. Hickory doesn't seem to have much pop in the lineup, thats why I have them at 5. Don't really expect too much from Hibriten or Foard based off last season.

1-AC Has everyone back and adding some key players from the JV team for depth, this should be the team to beat.

2-Hibriten(might be a surprise) but they have played the past 2 seasons with young players and they are finally Varsity players so I can see them finishing up near the top. (I put them at 2 but they could go 2 or 3)

3Watauga- always well coached and always a scrappy team. Lost alot last season but with the addition on 2 players and Tyler Jones in the line up they could do some big things.

4- South Caldwell- another great coached team and program. They have the pop in the lineup with Gage Parham and Nick Horning. Not sure how they will be on the mound.

5-6-7- This could be a bunch up with Hickory Foard and Saint.

Hickory has 3 good bats in the line up but after the lefty not sure what they have on the mound.

Foard has 2 great bats in the line up and a good lefty on the bump.

Saint has speed and another hard nosed team who could shake some things up.


I know this isn't really a great prediction but this conference is pretty much open this year.

I could see Hibriten being a surprise. Just don't know to much about Foard. I thought that lefty from Hickory was a Sr. last year?

 

Garlow was a senior but they have another one who might be just as good

 

I think ac has the pitching and defense to do it this year if played right. They have a couple key players moving up from jv to help them also behind the plate catching and a lefty pitcher.i think also ford could surprise some with there bats they just don't have any pitching to be controlling of the game.

 

Hibriten 4 South Caldwell 0. John Curtis hurls 3 hitter striking out 16 in complete game. Drew Bolick drives in 2 runs.

 

That is a big win for Hibriten, I also heard Foard beat Watuga last night and Alexander beat Saint Mon night.

 

Ok I think this is how they stand after 1st time through conference...

South 5-1
AC 5-1
Watauga 1-5

3a
Hibriten 2-4
Saint 3-3 I think
Foard 2-4?
Hickory- I know has 3 loses

Correct me if I am wrong
