Could there be 8 separate Areas instead of only 4 in NC? Then you have 8 area champs to meet for State Championship, instead of the current system? I know about the host thing, but regardless of that issue.

Did Carlos Rodon play Amer. Legion ball in NC?

I read somewhere else that very few of the guys from NC high schools that played in the CWS for State & UNC played Amer. Legion. Anyone know about this?

who won State Jr. legion title this year?

Carlos Rodon did not play legion ball he would have played for Garner if he did however not many people like playing for the coach there.

Hobbs Johnson & Parks Jordan played some American Legion. Ethan Ogburn & Chance Shepard as well for NCSU. Sure there are more, but that's all I know.

Mint Hill won the Jr Tournament. They defeated Kernersville twice on the last day.

From this years MLB draft area III was represented with the following

    Hunter Harvey
    Nick Lomascola
    Justin Seager
    Chris Dula
    Alex Swim

By my last calculations 21 major leaguers currently playing from North Carolina, 18 of them played American Legion Baseball .

And another thing not liking the coach is a poor excuse, if you love the game you will play for anybody Garner has a great program so don't use that excuse.

I speak from experience and also that is the stupidest thing you could say playing for someone who could jeopardize your future real smart.

Just heard Garner had to forfeit today's elimination game because of a 12-player rule. Garner only has 12 guys on team but only 11 are present for the 1pm game because of one kid in summer school at NCSU. National Office Legion officials ruled it a forfeit but Garner is arguing that a National rule shouldn't be enforced on the State level since only teams from NC are participating. Crazy!

Hunter Harvey would have played in Area IV, not area III - however he did not play Senior Legion, but did play Jr. Legion until he aged out of it and not because he didn't have the talent. Those are facts.

Hunter Harvey did in fact play in Area III, and for Mooresville Post 66. When the state guys busted up Mooresville's program and they had to look elsewhere for players and ventured into Catawba Co. There has been atleast 5 Bandys HS players on Post 66's roster for the last 2 seasons. Harvey, whose father played at Post 66, pitched for the Moors this year until he was drafted and signed.
