Thanks! That means our guess was correct. The 14U team got credit for those 4 wins.

    HS div ?

Rankings are fun to look at. See what other teams are doing. Here is my ? on the HS rankings. I may totally be missing something, here. This is example only. With the "older teams" cranking up and I think that you are talking about the mainly "showcase" org teams. How will you rank a team that could play 80 or 90% or more of their games out of state and not likely play many or any of the NC team? Eg.. Cardinals may play TeamNC or Lady Blues may play Lady Lightining out of state "sometimes", but hardley play any games in NC. Cardinals or any of the others above, go to Atlanta or NJ or Florida play East Cobb Bullets or Atlanta Vipers or Texas Fire and win. They go 6-0 or 7-0 in those tourneys and get no credit. They could even go 2 or 3 weekends and not lose a game aganist national powerhouse teams. They might play 1 other NC team out of 5 or 6 teams in those weekends or not play any NC teams. These older teams may only play the other NC teams in the NC ASA State or at the Cardinal tourneys in Rock Hill or Raleigh. Just courious how this will effect your rankings on some of these teams? Or, could you have a rankings list of the OLDER Teams that normally don't play in NC except in certian occasions? If this is even possible.
You mention that Cardinals-Baity went 7-0 this past weekend in Burlington. Don't know who they played. But likely play mostly if not all NC teams. Cardinal team may not play in NC again till ASA State and the Cardinals Classics, which means they may not play but 1 or 2 weekends this year in NC. The rest of their weekends are likely out of state.
Just courious on the HS rankings here when you have to factor in these mostly out of state teams. There are even some 14U's that play a lot of out of state weekends.

Piedmont - Those are very good questions, I'm not sure the best way to deal with that. I've known that this issue is on the horizon.

I'd be curious to what other people think here. If I were able to get every team's scores, I think the computer model would rank them appropriately. Challenge might be getting the scores.

There are already some out-of-state scores in the database from some 10U-14U teams such as the Lady Blues, the Cardinals, the Curve, teams that have played in Georgia and Tennessee and South Carolina. But those scores don't have much impact unless the teams they play have faced other N.C. teams. And in some cases, they have. In fact, I think the Curve and the Blues played in a Georgia tournament.

Also, a team doesn't have to play in N.C. very much to be rated fairly accurately, because teams like that aren't likely to go 2-3 in some local tournament against just anybody from N.C. They're traveling over the Southeast for a reason, and if they play locally, they're going to do well. But they can't be totally isolated. That is, having played no other N.C. teams.

So I'm not sure. I might reach out to some of the usual suspects and see if they have interest in helping assure that we get as many of their scores as possible.

Here's a related issue -- There is a pretty big 18U ASA qualifier this weekend in Burlington. ASA doesn't report scores (except Mike w/ Eastern ASA). I'm gong to try to talk the tournament director into helping us out, but short of that, I might be looking for volunteers to get the scores.

I find it ironic nationally that finding scores of ASA qualifiers are so difficult. Those are some of the biggest tournaments in the country, yet it's very hard to find scores and results.

And finally, not sure whether results of pure showcase tournaments should be included at all. If the goal is to showcase and not win, then is it just an exhibition game?

Just to give credit to where it is due the high school tournament in Cary was run by Eastern Carolina ASA. It was a well run tournament and the website bracket was keep up to date almost instantly.

    I agree.

ASA has a great online system for scores and brackets, maybe the best. Not all tournament directors take advantage of it. Eastern ASA does. None of this is meant as criticism of ASA. More of a 'wish.' Would like to see more ASA tournament results online.
