Has the rule to not allow college freshman to compete in 2015 actually been rescinded???? Can someone point me to where this is officially in writing somewhere?

Can't point to anywhere in the rulebook, but I did receive an email from the NC State Commissioner saying that Senior age would continue on as it is currently.

Age is one thing, but a blanket rule that does not allow college freshman is another. Just wondering since this thread started with a statement that the rule had been rescinded and I can't find that anywhere.

    19 year olds

Age eligibility will remain the same as it is this year for 2015 and future years. The same rules will be in place for players returning from college. This rule was passed unanimously by the National Baseball Committee, the National Americanism Committee and the National Executive Committee on May 8, 2014.

O.K. so kids returning from college will be able to play in 2015 as long as they meet the age requirement?

Yes sir. That is official and correct. With that being said, it means for the immediate future because things are always subject to change. That is a National decision btw. For any not aware, NC has a new chairman in Bob Figulski. Everyone should welcome him with open arms. He will work hard to get it right.

O.K. good. I'm in favor of the college kids playing, but that's my opinion and bias. I can see the argument in favor of them not playing too.

I know two kids who are playing Sr. Legion this year that are seniors in high school. Both are 17 and neither will turn 18 until this fall. One will play in college and one will not. However, both will be eligible age-wise next season. There are several kids who are juniors in high school who are older than these two. If the rule had remained in place, the two 17 year old seniors would not have been eligible to play next season after their freshman year of college. However, those older juniors would have been eligible next year as high school seniors. Somehow, that didn't seem fair.

On the other hand, I know two kids who are seniors who both turned 19 in late December. Neither are eligible to play as they are too old.

To me, age should be the determining factor, not grade. JMO.
