We will be moving todays 3:00 p.m. Lady Lightning tryout indoors.

We are Lady Lightning Gold 16/18, a division under Lady Lightning Gold Team Miken. We will be holding our annual tryout out on August 9th at 3:00 p.m. We are based out of Charlotte NC and compete in all major showcase and qualifying events in NC, SC VA, TN, GA, and Fla. This team continues to be coached by a former 4 year college starter with no child/ sibling on the team and our practices are college level workouts. FIRECRACKERS NC TRYOUTS ANNOUNCED!

We are proud to announce the Firecrackers- NC will be holding tryouts for our 16U & 18U teams on August 16th and 17th at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville NC.

Firecrackers Softball

The 16U will tryout on Saturday August 16th. Pitchers and catchers will tryout from 10 AM to 12 PM. All other postions will tryout from 2-5 PM. Registration will begin 30 minutes prior to each tryout time.
The 16U team will be coached by John Glosson. Coach John has over 15 years travel ball experience and is well connected with college coaches across the country.

The 18U team will tryout on Sunday August 17th. Pitchers and catchers will tryout from 1 PM to 3 PM. All other positions will tryout from 4PM to 6 PM Registration will begin 30 minutes prior to each tryout time.
I will be coaching the 18U team and will call on my over 25 years of coaching experience and relationships with college coaches to develop, then promote our players to the schools that are a fit for them, not the coach.

The Firecrackers NC are fortunate to also have Taryne Mowatt, a 2-time National Champion pitcher with Arizona, winner of 2 ESPY's and former NPF player as the pitching coach/pitching director for our organization. We also have our own private indoor facility where will will provide year-round training where we will give more to our players and parents than just a uniform and tournaments!

There has been a lot of questions regarding 12U and 14U teams. Those teams are a possibly depending on continued interest and finding the right people to be involved. If you have an interest, let me know and we can discuss and possibly schedule a tryout if needed.

If we field younger teams, those teams will be teams where the fundamentals and basic skills of the game will be taught. Winning will be important and players will be challenged. However skill development, game savvy and developing young girls into beautiful, confident young women who also play softball will be the ultimate goals.

The Firecrackers organization is dedicated to the progressive advancement of players both as athletes and young ladies. It is our goal as an organization to teach our players important life lessons through the game of softball, such as discipline, hard work, commitment, perseverance and the value of teamwork.


We are proud of the success that Firecracker players have experienced in Travel Ball, at the College Level, at the Professional Level and at the National Team Level. It is the goal of the coaching staff to provide an environment to develop the individual skills of each of our players to the best of our ability. We will also emphasize to all members the importance of team play and accomplishing our goals as a team. We know that we will incur failure over the course of the year, but understand that making mistakes is an opportunity to learn.

Although individual awards and accolades are great, it is our belief that nothing beats accomplishing goals as a TEAM, because when the team succeeds, we all succeed, no matter what individual role we played in that success. And we want to promote the success of all travel ball players, not just Firecrackers.

Triangle Lightning Open Tryout Session

The Triangle Lightning organization, entering its 15th season, will hold an open tryout session for several of its teams on Saturday August 16 at the East Wake Middle School Park. The Lightning offers veteran professional coaches with proven records. The following teams will be represented at the tryout; each team will also conduct individual sessions for players that cannot make the open tryout date:

We are excited about the Team NC open tryouts taking place on Saturday, August 16th at Eagle Park at Winthrop University. We will be participating in the 12U tryouts with Team NC Gertzman 01, Team NC Baylog 01, and Team NC Jones 03 from 9:00 to 11:00am. Please arrive early to complete all required paperwork and have time to warm up.

NC Challengers 18U-Stewart Tryouts

The NC Challengers - Stewart 18U is looking to fill a couple openings on our roster. We play a very competitive schedule with a long history of placing kids in college. We are looking for serious minded girls, with the will and drive to play at this level.

We are in need of a strong pitcher and middle infielder, but will consider all positions. Our first look will be at class of 2016 and 2017 players.

Tarheel Stars 2014-2015 Tryouts

The Tarheel Stars will hold tryouts for the 2014-2015 season on Saturday August 16th at 10 AM. The tryouts will be held at the Butner Athletic Park; 1105 West B Street; Butner, NC 27509. Tryouts for 14u, 16u and 18u will be on the same day and time, on multiple fields at the BAP.
