Just to let you guys know. West Rowan lost their starting catcher to a broken middle finger on his throwing hand today in practice. Looks like a minmum of 3 weeks. Looks like the job will fall to Brian Acoff (SO) who I'm sure will do a good job for the Falcons. They'll take on North Rowan tomorrow in a scrimmage game at West at 4:00.

I've seen Acoff before - he will do fine.

DK is a qualified, objective observer who is not in any way associated with the baseball program - in any capacity. He is also a friend.

Well. homerun4...It looks like the price of corn could go up this year because of a bad crop ..I wouldn't count your chickens (or should I say your falcons) JUST YET!!.. The Trojans of Northwest look to be a strong contender for the same crown. ;)

I got to see him pitch after just one week out of basketball (and fighting rain/ice with little/no practice.)

All I can say is WOW. He is a bulldog in the mound, unflappable, he flashed signs of outstanding control, the kind that will split a dime into two nickels. He is tough on the hitters and reads them well.

Velocity will continue to pick up as his arm conditioning improves coming out of basketball. By mid-season, he will be over-powering. You can't teach the kind of composure and maturity that I saw.... it's inate. He worked out of some tough situations (created by a very fast North team and a couple of minor defensive lapses) with skill & composure. He allowed 2 hits in his 4 innings of work which is outstanding for the limited time he had to get ready for the season. I'd take him on my team anytime - Probably the top 05 pitcher in the state. The sky is the limit for him.. Top 25 D1 pitcher and a potential draft pick by his senior year.
