    3/17 Randleman 5, Providence 2

Randleman's record climbs to 2-2, Providence falls to 4-1. Randleman started the season ranked #2 in some 2A polls, but early season losses have pushed them down.

How did Reid pitch? Did he pitch the whole game? What are some details.

The big thing that helped the Spartans in this game was costly base running errors by the Pioneers. Had 4 runners make base running mistakes which ran them out of potentional run scoring opportunities. Reid pitched a decent game but the hitting of Josh Bentley has been phenomanal the last couple games. Also for the Pioneers Chris Nigro threw a heck of a game. Just didnt get much support.

    yup

Baseballfan pretty much summed it up. WHS could have had 3 or 4 runs early on but instead got down 4-0 after the baserunning blunders. Nigro had a 3-run double to get it to 4-3, but it could have easily been 6 or 7 to 4 -- South rallied once Watauga got close -- the actual final was 8-3. Anyhow, the game was obviously NOT rained out as the game scores thread indicated.

Even though WHS runners got picked off they would not have scored because Reid either k'd the next hitters or got a ground ball. They had no hits to back them up even if they were on base. This just shows that SC is coached very well becuase they never give up on a play when a mistake is made.

The difference between Watauga and South Caldwell is that SC hits a ton and Watauga pecks away. The baserunning mistakes most certainly did hurt Watauga's chances. Reid pitched a good game, but I would not say that he was overpowering as the BEST suggested. He is fortunate to have the SC bats in his dugout.

In the game Reid only had 5 or 6 k's so he was not over powering. Reid is more a finesse pitcher in my opinon not an over powering type. The Watauga boys put the ball in play well and there base running mistakes just hurt them. The bats from South are great.
