Great game 1-0 North Buncombe..Great pitching both ways. These are two of the top four teams in WNC. In no particular order (for those nit pickers looking for a gripe) Enka ,North Buncombe,Pisgah, TCRoberson...(oops sorry that was alphabetical).....not a huge loss for TCR on the road ,I am sure they will hold serve at home ...gonna be a great race....For those of you wating for me to say something negative...Here it comes..Todays matchup was between two of the top programs in WNC...were are all of the people that say they like softbal? there was good fan support from both schools but there should have be 100 or more general fans and a little support from our local TV station. Come on people get off it and go to a game your kid may not be playing in, it is great fun..see you there

Come on Rabbit.... Don't be humble. Owen is definitely in that mix. Lets make it a top 5 with Owen. They still have at least 2 quality starters with Padgett and Burnett. And they will be knocking heads with Pisgah for the conference title. They have some excellent hitters such as Davis as well as power with Burnett. Whats so impressive is that no other team could lose 5 underclass starters plus the seniors from last year including their ace pitcher from last year and still be at this level!

The NB/TCR clash was awesome in my book. The teams played like mirror images. Both pitchers showing great control, movement and change of speeds to keep hitters off balance. Both pitchers did not allow the big hit with runners in scoring position. Both teams playing good defense. Both teams made the same mistake... allowing sacrifice bunts to become hits with no outs. The only difference in the game was NB was able to advance those runners to 2nd & 3rd on a stolen base and score on a ground ball out. I feel for Court cause she pitched great but she should be proud of her performance. Next time that little break could go the other way.

Oh yeh... the lack of fan support. I hope it had something to do with the fact it was a makeup game and it wasn't on the schedule. TV... don't know if they would have shown up anyway but I think, we have to call them and let them know about these games. Then if they don't come.... we can complain. There are so many prep sports. I did appreciate the ACT showing up but I bet if it wasn't for an email update on game day, they wouldn't have made it. Its up to us to let them know about big games.

    TCR/NB Game

This was a good test for these clubs early in the season with two of the top pitchers from the mountains going head-to-head. Both hung in there in tough situations as you would expect from these highly competitive and competent players. If the umpires had decided to invoke the Infield Fly Rule during a key juncture with NB batting, we might still be there watching Ali and Court mowing 'em down. Some great efforts by players on both squads: two great back-to-back bunts by NB's Kelly Davis and Melody Edmunds and Trisha Schwartz's great pickoff throw to first from her knees stand out (it came on a third strike, but it was a beautiful thing to see, nonetheless). Nice job, both teams.
