Northwest Cabarrus (5-0) vs. Mt. Pleasant (3-1)

Two of the counties best, but I have to give NW the nod today. I'm making the trip to the game, so I'll give you a report late tonight!

Tigers... do you know who is pitching for Mt. Pleasant or NW Cabarrus?

I know Dalton pitched tuesday in that barn-burner against West Rowan for NW.

Not sure. Benton was scheduled to go Tuesday, but was a last minute scratch due to stiffness in his arm. Not sure if he'll be ready today or not. After Benton and Odell I'm not sure who the number 3 is and I really don't know much about NWC other than the fact they are very talented and very deep. They've beaten some really strong teams this year.

    sorry guys...

I hate to take any steam off this game, but its ONLY a nonconference game. These teams are playing for bragging rights only, but these coaches would be crazy to pitch top pitchers if they have other conference games Friday or Saturday...

On paper, Northwest is clearly the better team. Josh Benton (MP pitcher) is good though and will take MP a long ways this year. Benton "CAN" beat anyone including Northwest; however, I'm sure MP will not be facing Lucas Dalton for NW (who pitched Tuesday in a conference game).

I know ... those bragging rights games can get carried away....

BUT .. if Benton hasn't pitched yet this week, Mt. Pleasant doesn't have any more games scheduled. He could see some action tonight if his arm is Ok (and I hope it is). He missed tuesday and wednesday's game was cancelled.

Is Mt. Pleasant going to try and work in a conference game later this week?

    Mount - 5
    NWC- 0

It wouldn't have mattered who NWC pitched tonight b/c they could not touch Benton. Good game, but Mount was clearly the dominant team tonight. As far as I know, they do not have a game tomorrow. Schedule doesn't have them again until Tuesday.

    Benton is good...

Tigers, I agree with you "to a point", because Josh Benton is good enough to shut down most any team on a given night. Congrats to him and the Tigers on winning this game.

However, I disagree about your statement that "it didn't matter who pitched for Northwest",,,, because Northwest had 2 conference games this week and therefore MP obviously didn't see NW's best pitcher.

Give MP credit for winning yesterday, but lets remember that MP threw their "A" pitcher against NW's "C" guy...

I have to agree with Wuffy.. Tigerfan.. But I give Josh and the Tigers a hats off..He pitched a great game..But over the course of the seniors on both teams NWC owns a 3 to 1 advantage..The Trojans looked to me as a little flat following there big win at West Rowan..Hopefully they will rebound tonight...but again taking nothing away from MP they played well.

Maybe they will meet again in this years Easter tournament.

Easter Tournament at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium (April 21-23)....

Austin Powers is right that all the Cabarrus County teams (except Central) will be playing in the same tournament later in April.

At that time, the winner will truly get bragging rights because there will be no interferences from having to play conference games...

Would love to see an rematch without conference games lingering, just being a baseball fan, I enjoyed watching the game last night, Benton was sharp, hit his spots moved the ball around and kept them off balance, but we didn't see NW Cabarrus's starting line up, offensively nor defensively!
Not trying to take anything from Mt. Pleasent, they played a flawless game, made the routine plays and some highlight plays, the 2A world has a competitor, especially w/ Benton on the hill, what a horse.
