    Allen Pitching

Just to set the record stright, Allen is happy playing every game at first and is willing to do what ever the team needs him to do. The issue is they have not even seen what he can do on the mound. he was 5 and 0 pitching for Vance's JV last year with two saves. He had wins over Providence and Butler. He also got strong looks during the Tom House camp at Hopewell in January and has been invited to pitch at the Impact Showcase at UNC in July. What I'm I missing here, Oh I understand about the one position rule but it does not apply to everybody i.e. McAuley playing short stop and pitching. I beleive ther are lots of talented pitcher and players on both the North Meck teams but only a few get the chance to truley be developed. Oh well we will continue to work hard and keep winning games and hope the future works out. Go Viking!!!

Yes, the kids that are getting play time on the North JV are glad to be on the field. Stories from returning players and there parents about pitchers only pitching and being DH'ed (very capable hitters) pushed players into committing to tryout positions that would put them in the batting order. Unfortunately that has left us with a lefthanded dominant pitching rotation. It would be nice to see some of the strong righties given a chance now that Rosenbaum has moved up without taking the strength out of our bats. You don't relieve a lefty with a lefty!!!!!!

If Coach Lightle ever gives me a chance on the mound or the possibility of being on the mound im gonna show him that im gonna be an ace up there. Let me go through all the kids who have pitched on another team and is not pitching for coach Lightle. Allen, Whitmire, Pou, and myself- Mallard. We are all strong righties, who can give the team a good game. Our lefties the past two games have struggled for us but our defense holds us in. Yes, I do agree a lefty should not relieve a lefty.

About the situation at North's JV...Please be patient. I know from past experience that at times it can be very frustrating not being able to play where you wish. Many people might complain and grope about playing time or limited at-bats, but you just got to be patient and do what you're told. The benefits will come later when you reach your sophomore/junior/senior years.

The JV program at North is for honing your skills and getting you ready for Varsity baseball, not for being an all-star and playing every position that you want. If you're unsatisfied, develop your skills during the summer and fall some place else. Varsity is not looking for a player who is going to pitch and play shortstop every game while hitting clean-up; hone your one skill to which you can benefit Varsity the most. If this means just being a 1st Baseman and nothing else, so be it. One thing a coach cannot tolerate is someone who whines and complains, so please don't do it.

If everyone got to play where they wanted, there would be a pitching staff of 3 lefties and 10 righties...all the rest would be sitting at short....some team that'd be.

One Last Note: Let's remember a little thing called being "humble", especially you just1NMss. Do it on the field, not with your mouth.

There are quite a few players on this board (and FrozenRope is one of them). When UpandIn, Splity or cc12501 send you a message, listen to them ... they know the ropes and they've been through the wars of varsity baseball. They know what they are speaking about.

I think we need to add FrozenRope to that list of Varsity players you should listen to. They don't post very often, but they read the entire board. Notice.... FrozenRope's been visiting the board for months.... it was his first post. Understand?

With the season we have had so far, with rainouts and schedule conflicts, the games have been few and far between. As far as whiners I think you are wrong on that comment. I believe the farming process of building good baseball players for a possible college career is knowing their abilities and strengths. As far as pitching, If the team gets into a week with more than three games (which is very possible considering games to be made up) we would have to put pitchers on the hill that haven't received any work to date or over pitch the current rotation. If this happens you are doing an injustice to the team and the pitcher.
