Teams to Watch!

One of the hottest teams in Forsyth county is RJ Reynolds High School! 12-3 overall and 3-0 conference. They have beaten some very good schools. Some of which have been ranked in the top ten in the state-including Glenn and West Forsyth! Their hitting is amazing! They are loaded with some very hot bats. Austin Boehme recently went 5-5 against West Forsyth. Nick Derose also hit a grand slam against them. This year will not be their only strong year-as they are loaded with some talented sophmores. Nick Derose(2nd base) Jay Laramore(1st) Torrey Johnson(3rd,rhp) and Hampton Foushee(of,lhp). They also have a few seniors who are led by Elon bound center fielder Austin Boehme, Chad Cross, Jordan Wesley (Washington and Lee University)and stud pitcher Brad Thomerson who has been clocked as high as 89mph. Be prepared for some heavy chanting from the dugout that helps them get pumped! Look for the Demons to go deep in the playoffs!

 

Thanks for the article on RJR Demons' baseball, NC dad! The Demons are definitely making some noise (and not just from the dugout) in the CPC.... not bad for a school that was recently referred to as only a "basketball school." There are a lot of talented teams, and talented players in Forsyth County, and throughout the triad area .... thanks for keeping up with them! Great job, NC dad!

Reynold's beat West Forsyth last night 9 - 4. They used a 7 run 2nd inning to knock Cody Crotts out of the game.

Austin Boehme (senior) had a perfect night at the plate, going 5 for 5 with 4 singles and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored 1 run. Torrey Johnson (sophomore) also had a great night at the plate, going 3 for 3 and getting hit by a pitch in his other time at bat. He scored 2 runs. And Nick DeRose (sophomore) hit his first homerun, a grand slam, in the second inning to give Reynolds a 7-0 lead.

Hampton Foushee (sophomore) relieved Brad Thomerson (senior) at the start of the 4th inning, and in four innings of work only gave up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 8 batters and walking just one. Not bad for a sophomore against the defending champs!

Some West Forsyth dad had a radar gun at the game and clocked Thomerson at 86 - 88 mph. He clocked Hampton at 82 - 85 mph.

I was told by some of the other Reynolds parents that last night's win over West Forsyth was the first time that Reynolds Varsity had beaten the WF Varsity in at least the last six years!

The new guys on Varsity (Hampton, Nick DeRose, Josh Lane and James LeStrange) on the other hand had beaten the WF JV's last year when Hampton threw a no-hitter against them at Hanes Park, wining 8 - 0. I don't know if any of those JV players from last year are on this year's WF varsity, but maybe it's an indication that the winning streak will be reversed over the next couple of years! We'll see!

Reynolds has a tough schedule the next three games as they play South Rowan Wed, North Davidson Fri, and South Rowan again next Tue. Hopefully they will keep up their winning ways.

I do have a question though...with the names Derose, Laramore, Boehme, Foushee and LeStrange....is this a team from Louisiana..cajun country?

 

What are some other schools who are winning more games than expected? Other than the top ranked schools!
