This is just a nomination and my own personal opinion. There are a lot of mighty fine coaches around, but he reminds me of the quote from Bum Phillips:

" He can take his'un's and beat your'uns or take your'uns and beat his'uns"

Coach Greeson gets the most with the least by understanding the game, but even more important, understanding his players.

So, kudos from Braves for being my selection as Coach of the Year

It's not everyday that Braves and I agree. :D
This time I think you're right on target, Braves, -- and you didn't even have to consult Methusda!

Note that Impact didn't list Coach Greeson's East Meck team in his top 4A schools in the west, even though they are in second place in the SW4A, ahead of two teams that he did list -- Providence and South Meck.

Coach Greeson seems to have the right balance with his players -- he cares and he motivates, but they don't play like they are afraid to make mistakes, like some other SW4A teams do. This year it seems that some of the kids on some other teams are wound so tight -- they need to relax and "play" baseball. The East kids are playing relaxed and they are playing well.

Anyway -- congrats to East on their fine season so far and congrats to Coach Greeson on leading the way.:applause: :applause:

" He can take his'un's and beat your'uns or take your'uns and beat his'uns"

I like him.. He would have made a good Legion coach for Ktown.

But we took our own-uns and beat his'un's 14-4 this year.

yep...somehow I knew you would bring that up:D

But I never mentioned own'uns...that's why he lost. If he had own'uns, he would have beat his'uns

Braves, I also second your nomination. His kids always play loose and he coaches several steps ahead at all times. I know several older kids who played jv ball for Greeson at Harding who call him their best coach and make it a point to keep with him as a result.

But Braves, I thought Bum stole that quote from you and cleaned up your grammer---no?;)

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Coach Greeson but it speaks volumns that Braves would nominate him for Coach Of The Year. Maybe, with a little luck, I'll get to meet him at the State Games.

There was a nice little feature on Coach Greeson that I saw today on SPORTS BEAT...... Have heard it from several (self appointed) gurus that Coach G is one of THE BEST in "CONNECTING" with his players. SPORTS BEAT as well said the same, "he connects with his players". Sounds like a really neat coach.

My son was at an ON DECK camp probably 3 or 4 summers back and had an opportunity to work with Coach G . It was his first and last opportunity but he said at the time, "He was my FAVORITE out of all the coaches that were there". He was in 7th or 8th grade at the time and only had a weeks worth of exposure but he obviously felt the "connection" and I know for sure he felt encouraged. Just a little something that has always stayed in my mind about Coach Greeson.

Hope he continues to do well.
