    ACHS @ WHS

    WHS 5
    ACHS 0

Hollifield and Kinnard both yielded two-run jacks to Holder and J. Greene, respectively as Watauga finished the regular season 7-5 in the NW4A. Nigro pitched 6 shutout frames and Leyshon mopped up on senior night in Boone.

An assist goes to the grounds crew who miraculously revived a flooded field to get this one in. Despite having the worst weather in the league (think rain is bad, try removing snow from the diamond), WHS had just one rain/snow out all year. Who says you can't play baseball in the mountains?

Central Cabarrus looses first conference game !!!!!

A 4th sophomore for North Meck made their pitching debut tonight in a rain-suspended game from last saturday.

With 2 out in the top of the 4th and Central up already 6-1, the sky openned up. When the game resumed, there was a new pitcher for North Meck on the mound and a new attitude in the field. By the bottom of the 4th, the score was 6-5......

Alan Parks started tonight in relief of Tom Porter and threw very effectively. The sophomore southpaw wasn't scored upon the entire game. After the game was tied in the bottom of the 6th, North Meck used their speed to manufacture the final run in the bottom of the 8th for the 7-6 8 inning victory.

North Mecks record is 8-4 in conference. Central Cabarrus is now 11-1 in conference. More importantly for North, they secure the necessary tie-breaker over Hopewell for the #2 spot in the conference.

If you really like good defense, then this was the game for you... in the 4 1/2 innings played tonight, the two teams turned 6 double plays.

    West Henderson 24, Avery 0

I guess the bats were eager to be used tonite with all the time off. WH had 5 HR's in the game from 5 different players. Mike Facchinei and Curtis Frisbee both had grand slams. Mitchel Pridmore, Cory Rose, and Josh Andrews also had HR's. WH had 20 hits in the game as Avery tried 6 different pitchers to slow the bats down. Mike Facchinei and Brooks Owenby combined for a no hitter on the mound with Facchinei, 6-0, going the 1st 3 and Owenby the last 2. WH is now 19-0 and 12-0 in conference. Plays Owen Thurs, Pisgah Fri, and Smoky Mountain Sat at WCU. With Frisbee's HR, 10 different WH players have now gone yard this year.
