all smiles here with your interesting topic during our rain delays and SC Playoffs! IL is rolling but the edge goes to NC NOW, not 5 years ago, but I would put IL up against any team, any classification in north carolina and bet on a Classic NC softball Game; tough and many innings...... IMO!!! Thanks and keep us posted in IL area summer teams, once you win another State Championship!

 

In years past Alexander was famous for going to play SC's best, the Lexington's Goose Creekk, and Spring Valley teams. And yes they won more often then they lost!

CFball, just a update, IL Has a good team. But we East Lincoln 3-A , played them last year and beat them 5-1. I think IL is the class of SC, but I give the edge to the NC teams. Good seeing you at the game last Friday. You are a ture softball fan.

 

NC vs SC

The problem is that both states are years behind states like, Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Texas, and California. SC and NC have some good teams, but after a few good ones, it drops off fast! It all comes down to summer leagues, Coaching both in High School and summer teams. In softball there is so much that a team can do to make things happen and a lot of the Coaches just aren't doing those things. They're Coaching like it's a baseball game, AND IT'S NOT! Get some key Coaches in some key spots and the talent will grow.

The BIG question is can the HS in NC/SC support a coach that will help bring the level up. Too many parents going to scool officals about PLAYING TIME and too many school officals bowing to a few digrunted parents. So the options are summer travel teams where coaching on the few teams that are able to compete on a national level is growing in both states. If the players want to compete at the next level these tough coaches will prepare them because a college coach doesn't care what a parent thinks it is based on performance either you do the job or you sit the bench,and if on scholarship they don't renew it.All player situations are handled between coach and player.Softball in high school has been treated as more of a rec. sport instead of the way it should be.

 

I'll have to agree with Beenaround.I have seen quite a few coaches that are paid by the school's to coach softball but they don't know how to coach the game.Some have played the game,but it's different coaching.You need to know your strength's and your weakness and work on both of them.The key to getting a State championship for your school in softball is to get most if not all your girl's playing summer travelling ball.You will learn by your mistakes and along the way you as a coach might pick up some tip's.I as a coach learn something new every year while coaching during summer.Look at I/L high school;most of their girls' have been playing summer ball for the past 6-8 yrs and it's paying off!and the talent in north carolina and south carolina is getting alot better due to this,but we are still a long way off to competing against teams from FLA.,OHIO,CALIFORINA,ETC..... BUT WE ARE GETTING THEIR![and by the way I don't get paid for coaching,I do it for the love of the game]

 

NC VS SC

Graanted, both states are getting beter, but the need for quality Coaching is a must. The Parent complaining to the AD is not just in HS, believe me, it's in College too. The problem is that these AD's are listening to the parents, when the first step should be to send their kids to the Coach to find out what they have to do to play more. Then it is up to the kid to do it and put the ball in the Coaches corner. The AD's are just giving up on the Coaches and siding with the crying parents, just look at the NC Basketball incident, the players cried and the AD reacted. It's happening all over. What NC needs is some HS Coaches that will continue the system that some good summer Coaches have put in place. It's hard for a girl that has gone the extra, paid the price, earned a spot on a top summer team, played her heart out all summer, then return to a Coach at the High School that knows nothing about the game, oh well..........
