Should being a senoir affect starting positions?

I am somewhat bothered about how some teams have started or played Senoirs over the player that should be out there. For example I follow South Caldwell through out the season and I have noticed that they think more of the senoirs than the rest of the players. For example, in Saturday nights game when Winebarger was stuggling, they should have put in Reid, but instead that still kept her in there, when the best eligable pitcher was Reid. I dont mean to pick on South, because I know other teams do it as well. But to be a playoff game, I would think they would have put the best one in, when the other one was struggling. So do you think Senoirship should have anything to do with Starting postions or playing time, or should the best one to get the job done be put out there?

South you played hard on Saturday, I dont mean to pick on your, but you are the only team I follow real close to. And congrats on your Confrence Championship and Tournament Championship.;)

There is a few coaches that are not taking the easy way of playing the older kids ,but playing who they beleive in no matter whether they are a freshmen or a senior, but they take a lot of heat for doing this. These coaches get no credit when they win but all the credit when they lose. Hats off to the few who are willing not to take the easy way but teach the kids if you work hard there is rewards. This is true off the field as well as on it.As the playoffs continue Good luck to all.

When coaches favor players because of class, you cheat the whole team. Maybe it is a senior's last chance to pitch, yet by not making the appropriate change when something isnt working, you cost the entire "TEAM". I have seen this firsthand-where coaches are intimated by parents who repeatedly complain and interfere because the coaches would rather avoid a confrontation instead of doing their job. It isn't right and it isn't fair to the other players.

I don't think that South's pitching was the difference in the South Caldwell game. You have to score runs to win games, and South Caldwell didn't score in this game.

As far as the South Caldwell game goes pitching was not the problem. If the girls had made the plays behind their pitcher it would have been different. SC would have still lost but by only 1 or 2 runs. I followed them all year and in this case they probablly had the best pitcher in the game although Reid is a very good pitcher also and their is very little difference in the abiliity of those two girls. Great season for SC though The coaches probablly should have had the girls come home on Friday night instead of staying out at project graduation all night.

I don't agree with anything you said in your above post scfan because those 2 girls pitch as different as night and day. Everyone can see that pitching was a slight problem with that team this year, yes I know South would not have won either way in the Myers Park game, cause honestly who can win with only one hit BUT how did the East Burke game end? Personally I think they should've changed pitchers way before that and you can defend that and say that errors put them in the situation, but when one of East Burke's best hitter is up to bat (Lauren Decker) and Winebarger had already pitched 7 innings and you have a good pitcher on the bench, well all I'm saying is I would have done a few things different. And back to what you said "I followed them all year and in this case they probablly had the best pitcher in the game" I think the stats, the radar gun, and wins and loses show who was the best pitcher on that team. But maybe your post can relate directly to xx00xx00xx00xx00's post senior favoritism???? Think about it

HSFAN- Is that you Nathan Stoke...Wow i have heard SO much about you. The sad part is that i havent heard good things only how you suck up to the coach of CC (which i have seen). Your talking about playing time and its very noticable your talking about CC (since i know who you are). You will do ANYTHING to earn brownie points wont you? Too bad the things going on around CC isnt about playing time but hey what ever floats your boat. Why dont you stop sucking up to the coach becauase obvously its not helping your sister out. Everyone know WHY your sister got Defensive player of the year, I think its WEIRD how you kept score and somehow she had the highest batting average when everyone knows that was far from the truth, Everyone knows Steph Beatty should have gotten that award, your sister was not the best hitter, all she did was strike out and get pop ups at the end of the season. and as far as this year she sits the bench. I was very suprised when she didnt make JV even though she is a junior.
Ok sorry about all that but it had to get off my chest because Nathan i come in here and i have read over 3 posts about you talking how the CC coach deserves all this credit, Dont get me wrong she's a good coach BUT she doesnt deserve any credit. I have talked with plenty of HS coaches and have heard how she is to her players and how she is just in it to win state so a college will pick her up as coach. Well Lord, be with those college players.

I'm totally against you on this one scfan, the best pitcher was not played all year long, everyone I have talked to about South Caldwell says that the best pitcher on that team is Jessica Reid, and not only is it our opinions but it is in the stats. So the best pitcher should have played on Saturday night's game, regardless, it shouldn't matter who is the upperclassmen, the "one to get the job done" should have been out there. Yes it might have not made it win or loose on Saturday, but it would have made it a closer game. I'm totaly with XXOOXXOO... and softballfever on this one. The best player regardless pitcher or infielder.. the best one should be out there, no matter how much crap parents give the coaches, they need to suck it up and get the job done. TEAM BEFORE PLAYER. I'm done.

seems like i'm in the minority here
but i didnt really know high school ball was so much about winning and losing
thought it was more about teaching/ exposing young athletes the proper way to do things on and around the field to prepare them for what comes next be it ball, college, life
summer ball is for winning and losing
college ball is for winning and losing
a high school senior that has stuck it out, put in his/her time to the best of their abilities by all means deserves the right to start their final year
probably the last time they will get to shine. they have earned it.
kudos to the coach who sticks by his/her players, is loyal to his/her seniors, it is their year , let them enjoy it.
the underclassmen will get their chance

and to the parents that bitch that their little darling isn't getting playing time--get over it-- don't see many of you around the field helping at practice with yours or anyone elses little darling

till u walk a mile in my shoes.......
