does MP have the best pitching combo in state or something? i've talked to the rose players this week and they are more than ready to play. Woodard hasnt seen hitters like the rampants have, and to be honest i think the west doesnt have teams that are even comparable to rose. MP is a good team but i think the state championship was decided last sunday in fayetteville

You may be right about East vs. West, but you are definitely wrong about Woodard and who he's faced. His complete game victory last fall in the Perfect Game showcase against the defending national champs from Miami -- with how many early round draft picks -- 4 or 5? Pretty good competition I'd say.

Anyway, both teams deserve a lot of credit for getting to this game. I hope they and their fans enjoy the ride!

AS for law1ng2b's comment -- I don't think this game will haunt you for the rest of your lives no matter what. What a thought for these kids to to take into the game. I say relax, enjoy and play ball... at this point you are winners no matter what.

I remember Mr Lawing at 2nd base for Harding. I was at that series and I recall that he made some clutch plays and got some clutch hits. That was a great upset win for Harding, and shows you that a less talented team can pull it off.

This Rose team has more power top-to-bottom than the 1988 team and it has better pitching. I thought that the 1988 team was perhaps the best fielding team I had ever seen.

I think this may be the most interesting matchup at the 4A championships in years.

i dont think Rose will lose. they didn't back down from Fuquay when they were down 2 in the last inning, with one of the states #1 pitchers on the mound. i don't doubt robert woodard's will to win, but its championship weekend... nobody wants to lose.

personally, im just ready for HS ball to be done with so everyone will talk about Legion ball. ;)

Well it sounds like people have pretty much discounted my boys in green. I know Rose has a very strong program, but on any given day...
Regardless of the outcome from the weekend, my hat is off to the Mustangs for a fabulous season (a series of seasons). I know Davis, Smith, Ramsey, Dover, Garber, Trammell, Patterson, and Mack all wish it had happened last year, but I know they are cheering you guys on this year. Go up there and play your game, hold you heads high, be proud of what you have accomplished and more so in how you accomplished it.

i think myers park will walk home with the trophy because first of all they have woodard and wilson, the best 1-2 punch in the state, and second of all, they've have faced some of the best competition all year in playing the SW4A. rose is an extremely talented team offensively, but i think b/c myers park has been playing in the best conference in the state, woodard and wilson will know how to pitch against rose

I think everyone is talking about a 1-2 punch, with Woodard and Wilson....I think you seriousily have to consider, if Woodard wins the first game, which I think he has a good chance of doing, of throwing Logan Smith the second game. He is definetly not a pushover, especially with some of the other guys that could come in and pitch a few innings late in that game. And if it does happen to go to a game 3, MP has Wilson staring while Rose is throwing their number 3 pitcher. Anyone agree???:jawomg:

This seems to be the plan, but I hope they pitch Wilson the second game...try to end it as quickly as possible.

Pots and Pans...how many fans would you say will be going up to Zebulon? Give me an idea what the school has been like this week.

There is defintely a buzz around school about this weekend, everyone is real excitied, I think you'll be surprised at how many MP fans are making the trip...I think it will be good for the boys to look up in the stands and see all the MP supporters! It should be a great time. I hope they bring home the tittle...
