If any of you know of any legit division 1 prospects, please pm me and let me know about them. I played at UNC Charlotte and pro ball, my jersey is retired at UNCC, and I like finding the best kids I can, to improve the 49ers, and referring them to Loren Hibbs, the coach, who I talk to frequently. I am deadly serious. I would love to help you out. I can also give you any advice needed with college recruiters and pro scouts.

Thanks metro, I'm sure people will have questions for you. I'll start a thread asking for questions directed towards you.

Listen, we can never have enough posters who can help a HS kid with advice and contacts. We are fortunate to have many college coaches, scouts and former players come on here and explain the expectations of the HS player and we even have a current asst. coach at UNCC sign up on the Board. He coaches many of the kids on this board during the summer.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the prep forum...and good luck on the 49'r forum...it's already explodin' :D

Looking forward to some great posts from you!!

There are many players through out the State. I will list the rising Seniors that I know of from around this area who will definitely sign scholarships. I'm sure I will miss a few names and everybody is welcomed to add their own, but these are no brainers:

    Patrick Adams- West Rowan
    Ryan Wilson- West Rowan
    Seth Waller- West Rowan
    Chris Taylor- Mt. Pleasant
    Logan Smith- Myers Park
    Ben Buchanan- East Meck
    Kyle Shelton- South Meck
    Wes McCall- Ashbrook
    Jay McConnell- East Gaston??
    Stuart Bost- Charlotte Christian
    Reid Fronk- Charlotte Christian

One suggestion is you might want to glance at the Junior State roster thread and get the names off that list...it's a good place to start.

Metro.....Charlotte missed the boat on Zack Ward from Kannapolis last season. He wanted to pitch for the niners but Charlotte showed him no interest. He went to Gardner Webb where he posted a 5-1 record and made freshman all-american.The 6-3 righty is 4-0 for the Kannapolis legion team this year and has been clocked in the mid 90's all season.

I wish the niners had taken a closer look at this young man.He really wanted to pitch for the niners. The niners sure could have used him this past season.

yeah, no kiddin k-town.....I totally agree. I myself wanted to play for uncc, but didn't get much interest shown back in return, therefore am playin ball elsewhere. Charlotte obviously has problems with recruiting local area players, and this is common knowledge. I know many players just around here that would love to play for them , they just need to be given the opportunity.

there have definately been some local recruiting issues at UNCC, coach Hibbs has gotten very frustrated with local kids wanting to go to the ACC, when CUSA plays as gooda brand baseball. USM, Tulane, Houston, TCU, ECU, etc are all perennial top 25 teams. He came from Wichita St. where they got whoever they wanted, so it has been a totally different situation here.

I would love to see more locals too. I played for Providence High school on its first team in 90 and 91 so I was a local myself. He is making more efforts now to recruit locally from what he has told me.

Ktown, if a kid is throwin in the mid 90's why is he playing legion ball? Sounds to me if that is true, he should be in a legit college league like the Jayhawk or Cape. I wish I could comment more on why he did not get a look, but I don't know. There are a million reasons to chase a kid or not. Some want too much schollie money, some want promises of PT, some parents ward off coaches with certain attitudes, some don't have the grades, some kids put up good numbers but don't have the tools to proceed.

Anyway, yall have an open pipeline with me. If you know a kid who wants to go to UNCC but doesn't have the contacts or courage to call them directly, let me know, and I will take it from there. I want to help.

Metro....I am a 49er alumnus.Would love to see their baseball team improve.Ward was told last year that he threw too many curveballs and not enough heaters. The Charlotte staff was not interested in him.I wish I could have contacted you last year and asked for someone to take a closer look at him from Charlotte.I would have loved to see him pitching for Charlotte this past season.

Ward was offered to pitch in 2 or 3 wooden bat leagues this summer against top college players, but wanted to come back with friends this summer and play one last legion season. He figures there will be plenty of time in the future for wooden bat leagues. His legion coach is Tate Osbourne,a former closer for the Niners in the early 90's.Come check Ward and the Kannapolis legion team out if you get a chance.

Tate was one of my all time favorites. great guy. He could not break a plain of glass with his 80 mph fastball, but he got EVERYONE out with savvy. He also has one of the best senses of humor ever. If you see him tell him I said Hello. I gotta come see him coach sometime.
