This list isn't complete, but here are 4 more names ....

    Hopewell
    Ben Beard, SS, Junior
    Jimmy Brown, OF, Senior
    Andrew Cruse, P, Senior
    Brad Gardner, 1B, Senior

Added to the 3 I already had ....

    North Meck
    Matt Nossel, SS, Senior
    Michael Cavasinni, OF, Sophomore
    Tom Porter, P, Sophomore

And the only announcement that has actually been in the paper:

    Central Cabarrus
Justin Ridenhour, SS, Player of the Year

Fill in the rest guys ....... I know there are deserving players that need to be recognized in the Meca 8

humm. The post about the hopewell guys seems a little weird to me. Did either one of them make All-Conference in their respective high school career's. True All-Conference means nothing at all, but the two programs that signed them seem a little too solid to sign people that haven't won the award.

Nothing weird about it .... it's also in the local paper, Huntersville Herald. I wish they had published all of the All-Conference selections for the Meca-8.... Still haven't heard who made it from the other schools.

I have a few guesses, but nothing for sure.

About the signings: More power to them. All-Conference is a nice feather, but lots of schools pick up seniors after graduation and after the draft in order to fill holes left by transfers to other facilities and for players taken in the draft. These programs saw something in these players that either merited attention or that they believed they could develop.

Brian Biggs and Zach Butler made All-Conference from West Meck.

    Thanks for the update ....

Zack sure came on strong at the end of the season, pitching great consecutive 1-0 shutouts against some tough teams. Was he a Junior or a Senior this season?

Zach was a senior and he only threw the 1-0 shutout against Hopewell in the conference tourney. Graham Baughn threw the 1-0 shutout against North Meck.

    Baughn:

West Meck could play with anyone ... you guys had the defense and the pitching ... just needed more offense to be consistent. No one wanted to play you guys !!!!

Great season fellas ... don't be fooled by the record, you guys were dangerous!

Thanks alot. We lost many one run games this year, if we could have had some clutch hitting, our record could have easily been one of the top ones in the conference.
