    series began in 1974...first year for east burke, the second
    for freedom...fhs beat valdese in 1973, the last year before
    east opened.....29 straight years of fat friday.
    fhs leads 15-14, the patriots have won six consecutive
    games in the series...this is the first time since 1978 that
    fhs has led in the series....the series is the third longest for
    fhs...the patriots have met mcdowell and watauga 30 times
    apiece.
